.A few notes about Australia Versus USA analysis::

1. U.S. is also a multicultural country. In fact, I think U.S. is THE most multicultural country, more so than Australia.

3. It's easy to get permenent residency in Australia because the population is so low, and they need more labor force. The only reason why it's difficult to become a permenent resident in the U.S. is because it's already very populated. It ranks among the TOP 5 populated countries.

4. Poor conditions and poor life are the products of one's own. In order to have a quality life in the U.S. you need to be educated and have a good job. The reason why many green card Nepalese in the U.S. live a life of poverty (not dire poverty though) is because they do not have the necessary skills and education to climb the ladder in U.S. job market.

5. It's not just Australia that has great weather. U.S. also has great weather. It depends on what part of the U.S. you live at. (Australia may have some good weather but think about the most venomous and poisonous snakes and reptiles found on earth. They are in Australia.) I would rather live in the frozen or burning part of the U.S. than live among those dangerous creatures.

I have heard pretty good things about Australia. If you are looking for a Blue Color Job, Australia is a better place as their minimum wage in higher than US, but on the other hand if you are working as a white color job US is better.

I actually only found three noticeable differences:

1) Australian drive on the left...
2) Aussie accent...
3) Aussies are more laid back...

Other than that, no apparent differences. As far as the weather and landscape are concerned US has its flora and fauna and so does Australia. I've been in Melbourne (San Francisco is a sister city BTW) for 3 yrs now and enjoying every bit of it. Since I grew up in the US and worked professionaly in quite a bit of places- S.F., Houston, N.Y., the salaries for ppl in the software industry at the mid to senior level aren't much different either. In particular if you are a web architect with 3-5 yrs exp an avg payout is around Aus $89K/yr which closely matches a US salary in my opinion. Obviously, salary in your industry may differ. Plus, perks like a 4 week/yr vacation is considered normal.

i moved to sydney after spending almost a decade in the US. i did find some differences in the aussie culture initially. it was quite a frustrating first few months. outside the sydney CBD, it felt like i was in some remote area. technology, entertainment ie movies etc seems to come out here very late. people have different sense of humor and obviously a very very different accent. they are very laid back but they do work very hard. culture wise, it is sort of a mix between american and british cultures. sydney has great beach culture otherwise...Aust have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. i heard melbourne is quite classy compared to sydney.

temp jobs/part time jobs seem very easy to get. and they do pay very well for a secretarial job ie $17-18 AUD. and can work easy for 20hrs/wk. however most nepali people i came across seems to have difficulty finding a professional job even though they have a uni degree. otherwise, life seems to be great since its easy to a get a PR once u get a college degree aka Uni degree here. [they used to look at me weird everytime i said college]. Australia is a country bigger than US but with pop. of about 20 millions.

one thing that most Aussies know where Nepal is; and many of those i met love Nepal. in contrast, most americans i came across didnt have a clue what Nepal was.

I m not sure how long if i will stay in Aust. but i m loving living here everyday..
They have got the nicest weather; beats the frosty midwestern winters anyday.

My brother in law went to Australia with a PR and he was educated in Australia. For the first two years he could not find a prof. job and worked as a cook in an Indian restaurant. After two years he found a job in his profession and he seems to be very happy. It all depends on your luck, location and profession as well.
For me Matribhumi Nepal vaye pani Karma Vhumi Amrika ramari phapeko cha. I could not ask for better for where I came from and what are the things I went through in my life. It is all because of hard work of my mom and dad.

How about Newzeland? Most of the Lord of the Rings were built in NZ...

the difference between aus and usa is that when you reach aus you are introduced to craig matt etc from clean fast company and when you go to usa you are introduced to santa singh banta singh etc who owns a gas station.

One can tell that the poster above, Burning Heart, has not been to Australia. Foster, though it's called Austalian for Beer, is mostly a non-Australian phenomenon. Australians in Australia don't drink Foster. Mostly, Ozzies prefer Victoria Bitter and other brands.

And, nails, you cannot climb the Opera House, from any side. You probably mistook it for the Harbour Bridge.

Nepal Ko Lato, all the information you need on immigrating to Australia is in their official government website. Just google it. You can also use the so called "migration agent", similar to lawyer, who can facilitate the process and will charge you 2 to 4 thousand AUD.

I personally found Australians, or Ozzies, to be more open minded and laid back, therefore, easier to be friendly with. But I am sure they have their share of racists, as made obvious by recent riot in Sydney. However, I have been told by Nepali Australians that 2nd generation Lebanese Australians (aka Lebos) are the trouble makers lot of the times.

Australia is indeed a very beautiful place to visit and lovely place to live. Obviously, your living experience will depend vastly on the source of income you have there. But all things being equal, I would definitely prefer Australia over the US to live. But that is only my opinion.

Lot of folks from Oz think the other way, but mostly just for the money. By the sheer magic of currency valuation, you can make more in the US. $1USD = $1.36AUD

uffffffff Chatmandude - yes you can and i didn't mistake it in anyway. hmm... let me explain since you don't seem to understand what i mean ke! okay, you know where you go into to the opera house and there's like the doors right??? so on the sides there's like a little slope and you can climb up and usually you see little kids around 7 (that's how old i was ke when i used to climb up that) trying to climb up it ke! and you get to the top, there's a little space and you sit on the sides and sometimes from the top you can look into the windows and you can see shows and performances that are going on in the opera house ke! uffffffff! hmm.. so you've been to sydney but never done that???OMG, you're kidding me right! I have so many pictures of me trying to climb the side of the opera house ke and the fun part of it is that it's like a slide ni so you climb up to the top and then come sliding down! :) :) you should so totally try it if you haven't done it before and what the hell do you mean by climbing the harbour bridge if you fall then hmmm.. you go down into the ocean in, isn't that kind of dumb?? Dang! anyways do try and let me know if you liked it or not hai? (wink, wink) :P :)
