found by Jet Propulsion lab, Pasedina and Yale University.

There is a debate raging as to what exactly constitutes a "planet" in the classical sense when applied to objects in the near-extrasolar region known as the Kuiper belt. Pluto is argued to be one such object.

This then opens the door to argument in light of the near Pluto sized objects that have an orbit around the sun. Objects that do not strictly adhere to the plane of the rest of the planetary bodies, while maintaining a somewhat eccentric orbit around the G2 class star. So is it fish or fowl goes the debate.

Given the volume of objects that fit this description in the region outside of Pluto's orbit, the oft fractious scientific community has seen head scratching, grandstanding and nose thumbing within their ranks.

So if ABC adds to the din, the more the merrier I say!

i'm also working on the 11th planet (I thought mine'd be the 10th) ... that tiny winy glow of light way above there .. I'm going out right now with my good ole tube to verify that the 11th one is still waiting for me to annouce its location, angle of orbit and sattellites. Cheers!

well this one was detected in 2003, but confirmed as a planet now.

BTW, I was wondering if there is any Nepali pursuing Astrophysics in the US. Pls let me know if there's any one who have achieved something in the subject.

Yeah, this is an indicator how far behind we are in science and technology.
RONAST and BP Koirala Planetarium just eating monies,
but doing nothing to promote astronomy
to take it to the masses of the people,
Ke garne????????????

-----------------------------------

Astronomers have discovered a new planet orbiting our Sun, which is larger than Pluto. It's located 97 times further than the Earth from the Sun. This new, 10th planet was actually first photographed in 2003 by the Samuel Oschin Telescope at Palomar
Observatory, but it took this long to study and confirm its size and orbit. A name has been proposed to the International Astronomical Union, which is making its decision.

Good Question Sursab.

Even After 400 Years of Invention of Telescope, we dont have access to it. The government has imposed 100% tarrif on telescopes import. As you know, astronomy is the Mother of science. How could we develop science in Nepal When people like Balaram Gharti become Minister for science, what to expect from them to develop science.

My own children go to science college, but its all learning by heart. If we want our children practicing science, astronomy is the way to go.

As you know many people still believe on Fatalistic astrology, which needs to be rooted out before Nepalies could make a leap forward as a civilised and modern nation.

ciao.

''So what? Can we go there and settle before anyother does?''

That's a very stupid question I suppose, if you know the basics of life science. Did you know that the newly discovered planet is within our own solar system but very very remote, more than twice the distance between the Sun and Pluto; a world of rock and ice?

Sursab probably wanted to know if it is enough to buy a ticket and fly there and start working or you need to go through a process, get a visa and work permit also?

Shirish bro, Cosmology is as fascinating as anything.

Here are some stuffs on the 10th planet. Scientific American, however, is yet to publish its new edition.

Hmm.. I don't know any Nepali in the field of Astrophysics in the US. I was really interested in that field when I was in HighSchool but I decided to go to Physics in college but not towards Astrophysics.

newuser are you into astrophysics? You know it would be great if we could have observatories up in the hills, we are pretty high in altitude and we do have little pollution outside of the Kathmandu area. It is quite ideal area for observations.

That 10th planet will allow you to see stars during daylight, not from the space but from the ground. "Diunso nai tara dekhauchhu, bhanchha ni". Wow!
