Nepalese have fought so many times for democracy. Eventually, the politicians who couldn't bow down before so called Royals, had to accept the fake democracy for the people. Any time, a King can take away peoples' power - that's the type of democracy we've been enjoying. I see no future for our country unless we totally destroy the enemies of peoples' right. So many martyr's blood have been wasted. Our country is the strangest of all where so called educated fools prefer monarch to rule the country than ruling by themselves.

Thank you for your concern about Democracy, Freedom and Nation.

We are looking at king as the solution to get out of the crisis we have now. We can not bow down to Maoist (terrorist) too. If we do.. then we have to tell the story to our kids that... if you are not satisfied.. hold a gun and fight a battle.. kill people.. and rule.

India Got democracy without Violence.. thats why their leaders since then did not have courage to hold gun and get people's support. Gandhi had set a tradtion and a good example of non violece andolaan....

If we want to rule and everybody feels the same.. we would do another andolan and look for political exit. We will not do any sorts of andolan by Chakkka jaam.. and throwing stone.. and distroying properties.. and killing people in the name of patriotism... a wrong way to correct a mistakes is another mistake.!!!

Paagal, I expect your views to restore the peace in nepal. Honestly none of us wants to lose our freedom but we badly need peace.

I really admire your the feeling of patrotism inside you... and expect that you would give a second thought which is more practical...
thank you and keep and on writing.. we need ppl like you who can express themselves...

"India Got democracy without Violence.. thats why their leaders since then did not have courage to hold gun and get people's support"

You mean Gandhi's principle of unviolence is still upheld in India today. Laloo, Ramvilas Paswan, Bal Thakary, Mulayam, Arun Singh, etc., etc., you think they all use non-voilent means to remain on power?

PadeQueen1

the name of the leaders you mentioned are still alive on the baisis of pitfall of democracy... every system has flaws.. and india is taking too long to reomove those flaws.. and have you noticed.. the zone where those indian leaders do their bad politics in the name of democracy.. those regions are among the backward region of india... lets not go into depth.. but see most of the ppl in the region are not educated.. like nepal.... and our leaders exactly copy pasted the same tradition that they set in those region of india. obvious.. ppl should be educated to be aware of whats going on and at least to see the truth behind the sweet lies of leaders. Nepali leaders established politics on the same basis of pitfalls of democracy... thats why we have violence and anarchy.

WElll Nita!! see again... you will find answers.. coz... we follow bihar's politics.. and alll other big names that Paade Queeen mentioned are the idol of nepali leaders. so in that sense we practice the rotton piece of indian democracy........

Metoers,

All political parties of India, have a support base of goons, thugs, murderers, criminals. Even many of the MPs and ministers are of criminal backgrounds, with dozens of cases still pending against them. But that doesn't meant that democracy is not working in India. In spite of all it's flaws, we have to agree that India is a living, vibrant democracy.

When India got it's Independence in 1947, all the Nawabs, kings, and Princes were stripped of their royal titles. Henceforth, in democracitc India, If they wanted to come to power, like any common people, they had to stand for election and win it. They were big, powerful kings. The Nizam of Hyderabad was considered the richest man in the world. Many of them controlled areas larger than Nepal's. I think we should also follow the same path that India took back in 1947.

during 1947.. i doubt there would have been negligible number of criminal politicians in power in india... Even jawahar lal nehru had given all most of the part of his property to indian govt. .. a good example for politician to follow. Later, the number of criminal polittican increased in india... but in our context we already have a set of criminal politician...its not 1947 in nepal. so just sripping the title and property will not help much.. need to get rid of these criminal lst .. otherwise they would strip the property from one and will accumulate in their own.
HOw about strong implementation of law and order in the country.. and mostly spearding awarness through education.

The fate or policy of Nepal is not written in the foothills of Himalayas, it'w written in the halls of New Delhi.

Suppose a charismatic leader is born. For example a paagal like myself who want really to do something. OK, I see the unnecessary loot by the Royals of the national treasure and want to stop. Who'll support me? All military and police are his pets. So, nobody can do anything against them. So.... ??? Supposing maoists are crushed and defeated which is most unlikely. Will Gyanendra wiillingly, lovingly hand over power ? I mean power of Military and Police???? Again we'll be enjoying a fake democracy...Ha...ha....haa...haa...haa I'm paagal you know....

Meteor,
Exactly, India gave birth to huge personalities like Gandhiji, Netaji Subas Bose, Nehru, Patel, and thousands of others who reliquished their property, high profile jobs to face the British. Unfortunately, for us it didn't happen. I'm sure, there were one or two great souls, who had the potential to lead Nepal, but they were sidelined by Nepali history and politics because they happened to be men of scruples.

Have to begin from somewhere. So, we should start by nationalising the property of maybe 1000 people. And, also tax them heavily.

Pade Queen !

i was busy at work too so didn?t get time to check ur message. Well, the idea of stripping property or nationalizing property is not bad idea but i am not very optimistic that it alone can help to soothe the situation. I think we need a good tradition. See the differences between Gandhi jee (baapu), Netaji Subas Chandra Bose, Sardaar Vallabhbhail Patel (iron man), and Nehru. Baapu was killed due to the issue of pakistan / india... Hindu Muslim things besides other consequences.. Separation of Pakistan from India was a controversial issue.. but see how Indians have tackled it.. People can pin point Gandhi?s failure for India Pakistan separation issues... but have you ever noticed??? None of the Indian speaks up against Gandhi... they have ignored the flaws of Gandhi for the reason.. Appreciation of good work will bring good traditions. Indians didn?t make that issue of failure of Gandhi for election. I am just trying to point out some higher level of ethical tradition.

Netaji Subas C Bose was the one who had advocated people to hold the guns and fight against British. Netaaji was contradictory character in front of baapu .. but Indians never threw this things so cheaply and made issues for Elections. Indians always speak up for both of them (baapu and netaaji) as gret hero of nation. This is a tradition to honor their dedication for the nation or a tribute to their great heroes.. Indian leaders had options to pick cheap way to mislead ppl and carry on easy career in politics or to be cautious about controversial subjects before throwing it in public in a cheap way to create division in the Indian mass. They picked the right way then ... a good tradition.. That?s why they are not divided in national agendas no matter how divided they are about other issues. In our case after democracy our leaders picked the wrong way and we are here again in crisis with all the divided mentality.

Sadar Vallabhbhai Patel (iron man) is every important person in unifying India and to give this big picture of India in the world map. Sardar jee was little aggressive in nature and a person with strong determination. But Indian never chanted his pitfalls since his contribution for the country was much more and his flaws remained ignored. Showing good example and their good deeds to the public always plant a good hope for future? which consequently leads to a tradition.

And See what we did when had chance to set a good tradition. Our leaders made bangla. Those who were walking on street with few holes on their shoes.. now will be driving Pazero wearing imported clothes. See what kind of tradition they set.

In 1950, we got democracy with the help of India. Most of the democratic neta of that time had taken part in ?Bharat chodo Andolan?. Naturally, Indian influence should be expected since India had backed up our neta to get rid of Rana,s Regime and establish Democracy. Sometimes you should spend at least a little time with ur Grandfather to know what was the condition of Nepal after democracy in 1950. Indian Embassy was virtually ruling over Nepal. King Mahendra was the one who did first attempt to break the Indian influence after he became king on 1955. (who can bear a second nation?s influence and interferences in an independent nation.. I appreciate king mahendra for his this attempt). Nepal ma nepali vasha ma parai hunthena? later when Laxmi Prasad devkota became sikcha mantri and he was the one to add Mahendra Mala (nepali sikcha) in our curriculum. But before that? Nepal ko school ma especially outside valley sabai hindi ma parai hunthiyo.. and class ma ?Nepal ka pradhan mantra kaun hai?? bhanne prasna ko answer ?Nepal ka pm BP kOirala hai? bhanne hudaina thiyo.. rather ?Jawahar laal Nehru? hunthiyo?.

Maile example dinai pardaina? we all know king mahendra in his entire lifetime had struggled to put Nepal as an independent country in world?s map. My point is .. ramro kaam ? lai hamile appreciate garidinu parcha or at least recognition dinu parcha?. Irresptive of who did it. But if nepali congress did some ramro kaam then communist would try to mislead the concept to show the bad picture or bad outcomes and NC had reacted the same way for Communist too. Birodhi party le gareko ramro kaam ko pani hamile birodhai garnu parcha? bhanne tradition hamro party harule set gare. Which is sad.

Tibet was under Chinese control since 1950. and we had democracy on 1950. and we were big time under Indian control since then. That?s why king mahendra?s policy to be cautious from India is a good work thru any angle I can see. India ko policy pani ta nadekheko hoina ni?. In 1975, India in gulped Sikkim. Personally, I feel if king mahendra would not have changed the policy with India then by 1975 one more nation would have been in gulped by India. (that?s my personal intuition.. I could be wrong).

BP koirala.. yes. who doesn?t know him? oh yea.. He is a hero too? he had dedicated all his life to nation. BP was human too like King mahendra.. that?s why its not only king mahendra who did mistake in life? BP had done several mistakes too. Huna ta personal issue huncha hola.. tara Matrika Prasad koirala lai saansad ma abiswas ko prastab lyaune kuro BP baatai suru bha thiyo. Political reason bhanera jati karaaye pani? Matrika Koirala BP ko sauteli aama ko chora hun.

Anyway my intention is not to pour the venom of frustration. I take both BP and king Mahendra as Heroic figure since both had dedicated their lives for Nation. And my point to state all those things is to show that we never achieved the tradition to appreciate the good deeds of people irrespective of how contradictory they were from each other or from the situation. BP and King Mahendra did not go along.. but both tried to do something for nation. We should appreciate the feeling of that nepalipan .. that rastriyata?. Rather than giving a tradition to our clan to be blinded with hatred for one and showing how good is the other in comparison to.

Indians have done it to set a tradition from the example of Gandhi and Subas C Bose and Sardar Patel. And out of such three contradictory character they did not pick one is good other is bad like things? .. rather they appreciate all of their contributions.

Our nation will always struggle for stability until we set the some good traditions now. Otherwise holding guns and jumping into battle and killing people in the name of patriotism will not be a good tradition to follow to bring happiness and satisfaction among general people like us.

yo first of all u sound like u done too much weed
cuz yo if the king didnt take over then our country would be even worse
there is no perfect politicial system u have to learn to accept that
not capitalism not communism none of that
capitalism only works because the poor have nothing to say in it
communism dosent work because eventually someone is always at the top everyone is not equal
and your so called educated politicians are not literate
half of them didnt study past 10 th grade
someone smart had said"power cuorrups and absolute power currupts absolutely"
so it is right that the king took over but he should not make decisions by himself
he should make his power less by involving the people more in government affairs
the people cant be lied to like we have been for the most of our lives
now u dig that and holla back

Meteor,

Same case here. To many stuffs to do.

Overall, I liked your thoughts, although I found lots of flaws in them.

"People can pin point Gandhi's failure for India Pakistan separation issues... but have you ever noticed??? "
- I thought the India-Pakistan batwara had more to do with Mountbatten and Jinnah, than with Gandhi. Refer to Freedom at Midnight for more.

"None of the Indian speaks up against Gandhi... they have ignored the flaws of Gandhi for the reason.".

You are wrong. You think BJP, VHP, Shiv Shena, they all sing in favour Gandhi? They are all followers of Vir Savarkar, Nathu ram Godse.

"But before that? Nepal ko school ma especially outside valley sabai hindi ma parai hunthiyo.. and class ma ?Nepal ka pradhan mantra kaun hai?? bhanne prasna ko answer ?Nepal ka pm BP kOirala hai? bhanne hudaina thiyo.. rather ?Jawahar laal Nehru? hunthiyo?. "

Really! this is something new to me. But, BP was only PM for a year or more.

"I take both BP and king Mahendra as Heroic figure since both had dedicated their lives for Nation"

I wouldn't like to compare Gandhi and Subhas Bose with the likes of Mahendra and BP Koirala. It would be better for Nepal if these two were never born. Mahendra gave birth to Pachayat and B. P. gave birth to Nepali Congress. Both turned out to be equally disastrous for Nepal.
