I was just checking the report here and it seems rape cases has gone up too much in Nepal. There are even children of age group 0-10 years being raped. Seriously WTF! I hope more people can see the stats and take collective action. So do share the page with your friends.

Because of anarchy. This is what happens when there is lack of law and order.

Because of bame, he shutdown all cabin and cheap dance bar, on top of it this freaking MaPaSe. All those MALs went to qatar & Dubai.

This is what happens when you don't easy access to Sex. Our leaders focus on closing bar at 10 rather then something productive. Police goes to raid hotel to get people where are f****ing in peace , rather then doing something productive. Nepal police and army is such hoax that they are responsible for all major issue in Nepal for last 200 yrs.

One possibility is that it is reported more than it used to be.

Women becoming more forthcoming thanks to support from family and friends might've contributed in more rape incidents being reported. One would think rape incidents probably went unreported and in worst case scenarios, dismissed back in the days.

To kiddo and riddle: i'll have to agree with you on this one. Women are now more courageous when it comes to reporting rape.
To yaaku: Despite government being shit, i dont think that's the biggest reason as not all people go to cabins or bars.
To freedom2012: lack of law and order is true. Nowadays, people are generally associated to one political party or the other. Everyone's a 'karyakarta', and thus think they can get away with anything using political influence.

I read an artical somewhere that the "Capture Baluwataar" team is getting lots of $$$$ for finding out women abuses and rapes. It is appearing becasue the cause has found the sponser now.

I dont think women abuses or rapes are rising just now, they had been there the whole time. Its just that now there are organizations working on reporting it to the rest of the population. Good for women...

Its very complicated . I think its because of the media . How sensual it has become . everywhere you look its all about sex. And porn meterial is so easily excessable. I just saw an article where they had done a research on porn and its effectand it claims it to be more harmful than drugs. Man can get easily addicted to it and women as well.. As with any addiction it starts with something very simple and to get the same effect you start watching more hard core . And it keeps getting worse until you find yourself raping of molesting a child or even animal. Its very dangerous. We should not be promoting sensual things in the media. Sex should be something very special that God made for a man and a women and should be permitted after marriage. The thing that bothers me a lot is children are exposed to this kind of thing like never before. They are being robbed of their innocence. I think nepal is very confused. They need a moral guidence.

Blame on us! We, the society, are to be blamed. We blame everything on women. No punishment in the name of "IJJAT". Our society is not very different than muslim society where the rapist is pardoned if he agrees to marry with the victim. The rapist is still powerful and the victim has to live the whole life on the mercy of him.

everyone's explaining this with their own point of view, that's very nice. Thanks for the articles metta, good read. Also I kind of agree with mazzarella on moral guidance; and not just for these social cases, corruption and other political cases too! I really think people should do thorough analysis on what's really going on. And also implement the measures though, because we Nepalis generally have the tendency of "just talk and no work" :D.

I think the main issue is still lack of law and order. Like kwarc said, too many people go scot free in Nepal. This emboldens the general public to commit crimes. Illegal weapons are available and can be used to threaten victims with dire consequences if they dont comply. Nepal has become a lawless land, this is especially true in the countryside where there are different political parties playing around. They have become a law themselves. Politics has emboldened the general populace but negatively.
These political goons need to reflect. Society in general needs to reflect. Someday it will be your own daughter, sister, mother who will be victim.
Nepal at present needs a dictator like Saddam Hussein or Hitler. I feel sad to say this but there appears to be no other solution.

I disagree, Freedom. Nepal doesn't need a dictator, it needs a major revamp, possibly something like an Army coup.

यो माओबादी भेंडा अनि अरु नेता जन्तुहरुलाई गोर्खे लौरी लगाएर, गधा चडायेर देश निकाला नगरेसम्म क्यै हुनेवाला छैन!

Military rule ends up in dictatorship too. At the moment, Nepal is suffering from too much freedom. Freedom to rape, murder and loot. This needs to stop.

But guys the only problem with having a dictator is "what if he's a really bad dictator?". What if he deliberately screws around for his profit, while no one can raise their finger against him? That will be worse than what we have now. Army and Moaists both killed a lot of innocent people during war. There's no one we can trust. They're all the same (including other political parties), we can't trust anyone. What we probably need is a good stable government for a longer period of time. And not this khaobadi bullshit. And if I am to think right now, there's no party right now who can do this right :( sad indeed.

Since the current COAS happens to be one of the richest Nepalese (I believe he's Chandra Shamser's great grandson), assuming that he'd see no need to amass extra wealth, I'd much rather he had power and control over the country instead of these dumbasses who'd be ploughing corn fields in Gorkha and Rukum. If only 2k innoncent and ignorant Nepalese hadn't been duped into falling for their crap, I have no doubt Nepal would've been in a much better state than what it is in at the moment.

I have no sympathy or compassion towards these bhendas.

I know majority of people here will disagree with me but i have a right to my opinion so the only hope i see for nepal is Jesus. In the land of lawless Gods law can show them the way. I don't know if you guys are familiar with ten commandments.if you don't here are they
And God spoke all these words, saying: 'I am the LORD your Godme
ONE: 'You shall have no other gods before Me.'
TWO: 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.'
THREE: 'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.'
FOUR: 'Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.'
FIVE: 'Honor your father and your mother.'
SIX: 'You shall not murder.'
SEVEN: 'You shall not commit adultery.'
EIGHT: 'You shall not steal.'
NINE: 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.'
TEN: 'You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.'

and the commandments of Jesus with sums up the ten in two

"First, love God your Creator more than anything
else. Then, love all other people the same as you
        love yourself."
He loved us to the point he died for us and took upon himself our sins as would a loving father do for his children. He loves us if only if only nepali people would be open to find out who this Jesus is  Without passing judgement.
