markets kickin A$$ today...u gotta be making some dollars right here....stocks slicing through resistances like nothing....

   Got out of Sprint with 20%. Got out of MT with 10%. Errthing is good. Is there a meltdown this week? Please be specific.

U really don't know when the markets gonna pull back...all u can do is follow the headlines, futures, Asian market, FTSE,DAX, Bernanke, Obama, Earnings, Mergers, after-hours activity, premarket action....and that still does not quite do it

Missed CROX today...was staring right at it premarket at 15s .....was a classic play...red candle, black candle,tweezer bottom...then the lift off today ...watching it for tomorrow...
Optimism abt Europe and earnings ... Makes me lean towards market opening higher tomorrow...then pullback...hold support and a red to green play and continuation if mother market allows it

 Tyro, thats too many parameters. which one has the most weight. i thought stock market was a hustle, not a rational entity.

My take on market is we r very close to profit taking. S&P close near to its resistance of 1257-1263 of this summer. There are weekly and daily resistance( MA) at 1273-1274. Nasdaq has hit its resistance on daily and weekly basis. In this euro driven market, we should keep an eye on euro too and it has closed below weekly resistance and very close to daily resistance. Moreover, todays upside is not followed by semicunductors. So profit talking in couple of days looks very pausible.

So, i would not take any long positions here which i want to hold for more than a week...but day trading stocks is whole different ball game....

i only play stocks which I can rationalize with trendlines and bottoms and supports and resistances, I dont just buy a stock and hope for it to go up. Hope will get you robbed in the stock market.

@Obama, Wednesday probably is the key day for the market, Merkel and Sarkozy are supposedly gonna sort out the Europe mess.

U been looking at Solars lately ....its got plays left and right

@Tyranny, I looked at some solar charts...nice buy dip plays....they had good run but how long? Good plays for u though coz u know how to play dips.....watch out though....they r down trending for reason and they can make new lows any day.....

personally, i don't even buy down trending stocks...however cheap they are....they r down for reason.....i scanned few times in last 2 weeks....went through may be 600 stocks.....not many stocks with the kind of chart patterns i like to buy and very few of em in my price rance of less than $ 20. But see stocks on tech sectors and energy.....they r playing differently...many of them didnot make lows on october along with market. They made lows on august and october was higher low. so, i think they r the leading sectors and like to find stocks within those which can outperform the market.
on sarcastic note, lets welcome hustler like eastsidaaz ......gambler mind speculators always help bull-market.

i have a question to all the investor gurus..I always thought about putting money on stocks. but was never able to make my mind up on what should i buy, what site should i use as my trading/investment broker. I recently joined ING direct. Havent done any transactions yet, but i do know that they charge me $7.95 for each deal and monthly fee around $15.00. Is it the best deal i can get or others like Scottrade, TD Trade, E trade offer better service with lower charges. 

 Scottrade is $7 per trade and no maintenance fee. Plus you get 60 days free trading for signing up.

if you want to trade a lot (active trading )then go for brokers with per share commisions like interactive brokers, speedtrader etc

if you are just investing then flatrates would be fine but find one without maintenance fees

but per share pricing is better for both if you ask me ...for splitting up your entry and exits , commissions wont cut into ur profits or increase your losses that much

its always safer to not go all in at once

Carnage on AMZN too , couple of weeks ago we were talking about shorting AMZN...looks like their 1 cent profit on every kindle they make showed up on their earnings afterhours

and eastsidaz wait till tomorrow's Europe thing...and then decide which one ....VLO hammer candle but its a red one...wait for confirmation of another buy volume day or tomorrow if it pulls back given the market does not like what comes out of europe tomorrow wait for it to establish a bottom...trade cautiously

If u know what is a true selling day then, we had on tuesday. It signals schange in at least very short term market sentiment. As, i had discussed market resistance yesterday, its time for market to tests its supports. Profit-taking, fear mongering and volatility will be part of this move. We should tests 117-1140 on S&P before we see any sustainable leg up.
I am expecting head and shoulders reversal for this market for upside. Avid chart watchers like Tyranny should understand what to look for.
