What stocks are you buying tomorrow as dowjones lost 630+ points today? Are you planning to still wait?
These are in my watchlist:
MRK - Merck
INTC - Intel
WM - Waste Management
SO - Southern Company
NLY - Annaly Capital
PEB - Pebblebrook Hotel Trust
KO - Coca Cola
BAC - Bank of America Corp.
GE - General Electric
PG - Procter and Gamble
Any thoughts on these?

Was not missing a second day of gapup...plus Hastings filed a form 4 for disposition of some 25000 shares.... Abt a couple days ago Looks kinda iffy rt now, but it's holding 125 till now...if it breaks 125 the fall is gonna be massive IMO

Tyranny of Logic dude, you said.. "plus Hastings filed a form 4 for disposition of some 25000 shares" I think CEO has excersied his options before it melt down , having known that it would happen he would not....it makes no sense to exercise when the stock price is already chopped in half ...people are thinking even CEO is dumping ..I don't really think so.. he is trying to build shareholders confidence
And also I still see valuation in the company..if hulu worth 1.9 bil for 2m subscribers..NFLX with 24m subscribers at least worth more than 7 bil ..what you think?...But these days who cares abt fundamentas and valuations...just need to go with the trend..
Dude, also keep an eye on AMZN...Its trading at PE101 times.....gosh..when NFLX was trading at 60 people were screaming ..I guess there will be some correction on AMZN

What do you look for in regards to timing. Quarterly results, announcements, just wanted to get some tip from experts as I plan to venture into it.

@Teamplayer, on the same the date september 22, he had an automatic sale for 132.13 for 5000 shares...I think its some form of compensation for the employees cuz by the looks of it there have been no insider buying at all whatsoever...maybe its just how the company compensates them...I dont know.... but I just got out in the gap up made a couple of bucks ...if u notice the trend in it , it gaps up everyday and then closes lower...
just not sure about the bounce...if the Dreamworks news could not bounce it ..then what will..They surely have some news up their sleeves...but when and I am not waiting when even Cramer is talking about the bear flag in the market.
AMZN I would short it on a double top , but not yet..."when their 2 cents profit reflects on kindle reflects on their income statement" as cnbc said.
On the other hand look at Blockbuster's bankrupt stock BLOAQ, was at 7 cents , it closed at 35 cents today, banked some 30 percent off a scalp today, but its a pennystock..might play it for bounce tomorrow after a gapup
NFLX jst aint too tempting right now
@ anon,
I also dont know much about shorting ....jst done it a couple of smallcaps on open gapups ...80-90% of the time the gapup always fills, for daytrades...
long term short..dunno much maybe Teamplayer could elaborate
thinking about opening up an IB account cuz borrows are hard to get on other brokers

So glad I got out of NFLX... @Teamviewer..hope you had your stops set.... Amazon would have been a great short looking at today though... yeah its about time AAPL saw some decent profit taking but might just bounce off the MA line ... people might still be waiting on the oct 4 event to sell...it is a great company with an impeccable track record though

It's depressing to look at the market. I am not looking. Maybe I'll log on to my brokerage account after a month.

I think financials are a buy if it tests bottoms again.... Maybe tomorrow A relief rally today was because of the Bernanke q&a with the joint economic committee....VOLCKER RULE My strategy ....buy financials at dips....stops at the fresh lows ...SCALPs only... Nothing longterm.... We are officially in bear market...like BAC. 5.10-5.15. Bounce area or MS This is a traders market all day long ... Not an investors market IMO at least not yet ... Until we test 1020

Leaving your portfolio unattended in the volatile markets that we are in is gambling. Disciplined and Strategized trading is not gambling. (technicals) Gold is a gamble too. You are betting that the supply of gold is gonna go down and the demand is gonna rise or stay constant. There are a lot of unknowns surrounding that equation if you think about it. Isn't that a gamble? I was all for buying gold for 1300-1500...cuz the uptrend was steady...but then it spiked...did a double top and then crashed....so right now its only hope to get to the 1900s is probably a QE or wait it out a year or two for its slow uptrend after a harsh correction. There might be other investments that could give you 300 dollars return on your 1600 dollar investment ( as of today) in a year or two, or when gold hits 1900 again in the future way later than you expect. I might be wrong too but my calls here on sajha have had a pretty good track record. As always, just my opinions dont BET on it.

So you just strengthened my argument...Gold is a gamble too...cuz you are betting that the value of dollar is gonna go down and the demand of the commodities and gold are going to rise. My point being...there is RISK and there is calculated risk. It all depends upon if you're gonna risk it all or take a calculated risk.

I have not dealt with options much but here is what I know there's bid and ask like level 2s ( the buyers and sellers price) There's the strike price which is the price you are willing to pay to acquire that equity on that date the option expires if you are long on a stock(buying calls). If you are short on a stock the strike price represents the price you can sell the equity at the given date (buying puts). The table usually is for different expiration dates and different strike prices. and theres nakeds, covered, butterfly and what not... just tried it once or twice...thats all i know hope it helps Higher risk/reward than equities though!!! hope this helps... and ther
