just felt like doodling, don't curse me! :P

okay, it's been ages since i have stopped following/playing cricket. there was a time when i led the cricket team of my school, and brought it to a winning streak :P. i used to be a fast bowler (opening), a middle order batsman and a not so shrewd captain. :P

cricket is a psychological game. it's more of a mental battle than physical, i believe. being a fast bowler, i always had the luxury to act stylish and ominous....shine the ball, arrange an attacking field, take long run-ups, pretend scary look, wear scarf on the forehead...hehe....i have tried everything possible to scare the hell out of a batsman :P....now dont ask me how many wide balls i deliver in an over hahahahahahaha :P...

pakistan used to be my fav team, still is. as an amateur, i have always admired heroes like wasim akram-- my idol in cricket, so to speak. i have always believed that pakistan is a very talented team. the folks who play for pakistan are born talented unlike some of the players of other teams who work their ass off to polish their skills. players like javed miandad, imran khan, abdul qadir (i have an autograph of him :P), wasim, waqar, saqlain, afridi are some of the big names of this team in same or different times. most of these players were literally picked up from streets! they won the world cup in 1992 held in australia.

over the last decade or two, pakistan's major strength has been their deadly bowling department. but after wasim and waqar got retired few years back, they have been struggling to keep their pride of fast bowling as high as they used to have. shoaib, asif, shabbir, sami all are good bowlers but by no means comparable to the likes of two w's (wasim and waqar).

the other thing that is hindering pakistan to perform better than they actually deserve is their poor disclipine. they are a bunch of careless players, if one may say. match fixing allegations, politics, ball tampering...there are always issues with this team. with the recent banning of shoaib, for 2 years and asif, for 1 year, due to drug abuse, pakistan's prospect of lifting the world cup next year in west indies has been jeopardized, big time! i dont know where this team will stand....but i will still cheer up for them. once a fan, always fan. :p

Go Pakis! ~~~

he he he!! Loote, Fast bowler re wow!! I think I should face your bowling sometimes re kyaa... :P

I am surprised how did you forget to put Aaqib Javed in the list of Pakistani's fast bowlers. He was always good against India. I used to support India and never liked Pakistan but this bowler would always scare me. I still remember a game when he had taken 7 wickets against India, I think it was in Sarjah.

Yah Pakistan has always been a bowling oriented team i.e. they've won historic games through their bowling which is also more consistent. When I first watched cricket, Waqar's long run ups and his toe crushing yorkers bowled me over......:))

However, the most intriguing thing about pakistan cricket is their unpredictability. Its this mercurial temperament that starts from sheer brilliance to dismal performances that keeps everyone in edge ;)

I still remember those cricket fever days. The most satisfying feeling ever would be to beat india of course ;). I still remember when tendulkar dai went for a golden duck with a shoib special 98-99 series, we had a wild "chiya party" :)

Wow...glad to see that cricket discussion going on here. I am another paki fan to add on the list. Bowlers like Abdul Quadir, Imran Khan, Waquar and Wasim, Saqualin (my inspiration), Mustaq, Aquib Javed, Akhtar, Sami, Asif and ...the list goes on n on.. have always have made them a killer team in bowling department. Neverthless the batting skills of Javed Miandad, Anwar, Inzamam, Yousuf Yohana, Afridi have played supplementory role for their bowlers as well. I still remember the moments when Anwar was making world record score of 194, Akhtar was braking Dravid and Tendulkar's stumps in consecutive balls.

My instinct in cricket sprung abruptly when I was doing I SC along with 96 world cup fever. Baketball court at ACSOL with tennis ball ..that's how I spent my initial days of short cricket career. In the mean time, I did play vital role in breaking few glasses around small cricket ground we used to have near my home in baneshwor (with real cricket ball; not tennis ball). :P Literally, I did almost all the jobs as cricketer..started with off-spin bowler (inspired by Saqualin) and middle class batsman..and I remember opening the inning and keeping the wicket in the last match I played last year.

Darn..I miss cricket these days :( :(

wow !
glad to see some cricket maniacs in sajha..hehe...makes me nostalgic....its been a while ...

camo bro,
aquib javed was a fine bowler, no doubt! his records against the 'coward' indians is really impressive. and yeah that 7 wicket haul was against india in sarjah, his best ODI bowling figure. he had this uncanny knack of taking tendulkar's wicket more than any other pakistani bowler. matter of fact, tendulkar struggled a lot against him. he was not a super express bowler but could skid the ball through so well...

sn di,
hehe kris shrikanth..that pinch hitter...opening batsman hahaha...i like him as a commentator more than a cricketer, his thick south indian accent is so funny. he once told in an interview that the most difficult bowler he ever faced was wasim...difficult than malcom marshall or joel garner of the then mighty west indies. it talks a lot about how wasim akram was....

oys bro,
yeah waqar's in swinging yorker was a classic. no one mastered the reverse swing as much as he did. when he and wasim used to reverse swing back in the early ninties, aussies and english players made such a huge fuss about it, even accused them for ball tampering. they could not comprehend the art of reverse swinging. but now, freddie (flintoff), brett lee and so many other fast bowlers have mastered the craft of reverse swinging...

and yeah i do remember that match (asian test championship), when akhtar bowled tendulkar, first ball...hehe....i was dancing and shouting when it happened. it was a classic delivery....tendulkar later commented that he did not see the ball..hahaha...poor fellow

NKC,
hmm....did you play against stxc? just wondering, you might have played against me...not sure, there was a batsman from ascol whom i clean bowled first up, was that you? :P :P

flip_flop,
ahem, another woman...wannabe cricket fan? hehe...do you understand the game ? ki haawa ko bharma ho? :P :P... indian hah! didn't you find better team to support? hahaha...indians are the most coward team in the planet. if any team in this planet know how to screw a game almost won, it has to be INDIA ....hahaha...bunch of coward players! i don't think they have brave enough heart to play cricket outside india. rahul dravid apart, all those faggots pee in their pants even in bangladesh LOL.

if there is one team that can defend a total of 150 odd in a batsmen's paradise wicket, its PAKISTAN

if there is one team that cannot defend a total of 350+ in a bowler's wicket, its INDIA!

hahahaha even my indian friends hate indian cricket team for being coward!

its a CRIME even to compare the talented pakistani team against the moron and coward indian team :P...

flip_flop,
i did not keep the record book so i dont know how many wickets i took in my short span of cricket life (7 years)...when i started playing, i used to be a medium pace bowler and a rowdy batsman. later on, i improved my batting a bit, and increased some pace in bowling. i even played for gairidhara club...only once though. thanks to my friend (captain of gairidhara club) who included me in the squad. i took three wickets in that match (against the club of kupondole....forgot the name....three star? ....oh yeah "friend's club").

now do u want to face my bowling ? you better wear 'gaurds'--it hurts!:P :P
