So, would you guys mind sharing your recipes for Nepali food?

I tried to cook some dal-bhat-masu last night and my dal was a disaster. It tasted like besar!

Here is the best dal recipe you will ever!

Get some dal and boil it in medium heat till it turns pink.

Add a cup of brown sugar, few cardamom, ginger root and throw in some

garlic. Stir generously till the mixture turns purpple. Then saute few

yellow onions till charcoal black. At this point, crack open a cold bud ice 40

drink all of it and call that girl you really like, calling a girl part is really

optional. Now, stumble around in the kitchen and find a knife, cut few potatoes,

yams and pinto beans, you can also use lima beans. Now with the same knife

slowly insert it up your rare end untill you feel your pancreas and think how

pathetic you are for not knowing how to cook dal.

i can cook great chicken but not dal. it's just something i have never cooked before and when i attempted to make some, i think i might have put too much besar in there. moreover, not all lentils cook the same either... i just grabbed whatever random one was there in the thai food store. i hate people who are too quick to judge others!

easy and quick recipe - get dal masala from some indian srore.

fri chopped garlic and little chopped ginger until golden brown, add sliced onion and fry it for 2-3 minutes, then add dal and fry for 4 minutes in medium heat, add dal masala and fry little more, add one chopped tomato and fry 5 minutes. Add water and cook it in medium heat for 30 minutes.

or,
cook dal with little water saparately first without adding anything. do the same as above with other stuff and add cooked dal and boil.

I rarely cook dal, only once in 1-2 months, but when i cook i cook this way and it turns out good.

in your case it will be easy if u buy a pressure cooker. you dont have to worry much.
take a cup of dal add some  salt, gingergarlic paste ani jeera powder (you can add some besar if u are cooking yello dal.) and then add water . close the cooker in mid head wait for 4 wistles and then its done.
if u want jhaneko dal then take all the stuffs u like for eg. chopped onion. jeera ( not powder) hing, green chillies, garlic ( not paste) fry it in ghee or oil in mid head  till it turns brown and add it to you dal.
