there might be a lot of opportunities , but u didnot specify in particular the area that u want to be trained on, that way sajhaites who are already working in that particular area might provide you some valuable inputs .

also, these days, its not as easy as it used to be, to get H1B approved, if you are filing it through a consultancy , so check the credibility of that company and make sure its not blacklisted by USCIS for immigration and tax frauds,  and other things to consider are whether they pay you in time or not,  what will they do if you are between the projects ? etc.

good luck

Well go with a big one. They are really bad and crappy, but also have a good client list, so u'll land in a  job faster. You can always ditch them after a year. The worst part is, if you get on H1 and lose job then ure on yr own, they might just let you go.
However, if you go with a small one, they wont have good trainers and it will take some time for you to get placed as they dont have a big client list. But you can talk to the owner(s) face to face ...

have you guys heard of influx training? I found about them through sulekha and they have offered me online training but they asked for 1000 dolls deposit which they said would be returned after 3rd paycheck. They had some big names in their client list but I could not really trust them coz it is an online training. Do you guys know about it? please share your expertise and experience.

lamopuri: Don't join INFLUX. They are horrible and have trainers training from India. I could hardly understand what they were teaching.

MN_Nepali; You're right. It's reliable to go through small consultancies as they will keep your status alive.

Caligirl: Shoot me an email. I will recommend u a good one.

Dude / Dudenee  (That's the closest I could find )...

I guess you are from Computer Science background. Remember you can get 17 month extension on your OPT. These days most of the companies are E-Verified so eventually you will get your extension.

Keep on looking for a job everywhere even on craigslist. That's how I found my first job. Also be aware  that Indian Consultancy is NOT    ONLY OPTION. It is just an option. There are other ways to. Try RobertHalf Technology, TekSystems....etc.  Don't think about H1 right now, think of getting extension on your OPT. Trust me you will learn a lot when you land on real job. They will train you. Also look for an intern position. File your OPT extension and start looking for other position. That's the time you need to think about H1B.

Best of luck !!!! Keep looking

Remember " Hope is a good thing, may be the best of things, and no good thing ever dies." The Shawshank Redemption. I hope you every success in your life.

La ta, aaba  need to get back to work.

cali girl !!!
First off I would say go for sql rather than BA.. My opinion.. In the field of BA you have a lot of American ppl working , whereas in sql you won't find as much that reduces your chances of competition.

As for the consultancy it does not matter if you do it in NJ or Alaska... Remember they are all there to make money you have to find something or someone that treats you fair. as far as mukurdhom said going for OPt and intern it does not matter.. if you start small by the time you end up where you want it will take a lot of time.. if going through consultancy it does not matter no matter where you go from they all say you are an expert in the field and market you so its upto you to decide if you want a bigger bang for the buck...

Try dice.com and carrierbuilder I found these sites to be very helpful for IT ppl ..

Good luck

Hello Baire,

Thank you for your suggestion.

Yes, I agree it does not matter the consultancy is in alaska or NJ. I was writing those names and addresses to get some reviews abt those consultancies. I just want to be in safe side.
