Hi Rajan_pandit,

Welcome to life! It's time now to wake up and smell the coffee. World is a cruel place, so you gotta learn to deal with it. I'm not here to give you any philosophical advice but it seems like you lack determination and motivation.

Your actions shapes your future. Who you are right now is because of what you did six years ago.

Don't like who you are now? May be now you will try harder in life?

Now don't give me gibberish! "I'm on a student visa"  or "I don't get equal treatment."  or similar to what you said above.

"Where there is a will there is a way"

If you are strong, smart, dedicated, passionate and goal oriented nothing will stand in your way. NOTHING! Hell if you can possess only two of the above mentioned qualities you will succeed. Stop complaining and do something about it.

Instead of ranting here in sajha how about you spend ten minutes of your life thinking what you want to achieve in the next ten years?

This is a typical mind set of Nepalese I come across. Blaming their situation and not doing anything about it. Has accountability and personal responsibility gone out of the window these days? Kids blaming his situation rather than doing something about it.

You may not like what I've said so far and you might as well get back to me and it's understandable. Be my guest and finish what you started.

Good luck with life ahead.

Regards,
Incandescent

Hello Rajan_pandit

I agree with previous post by Incandescent.  Every country has its own immigration rules.  I believe this country provides ample opportunities to foreign students to settle/work here after graduation unlike many european countries, if i am not wrong.  Many have gone through this phase and work hard like we all are doing.  We just have to be little patience if we really need something in this country.  As a foreigner, I don't think we have any other options.

Nothing comes easy, so we need to work harder and be smarter.  Another important thing is to be focused.  We should not complain about USA bringing many refugee to this country or granting asylum status to many people with fraud documents or DV winners.  This is also part of their immigration policy.  We should not be complaining based on our case, countries generally have bigger issues than just to focus on status of students.  I hope new immigration bill will come soon, pass and have some positive things for students.  Please dont forget, when we talk about students, more than 250,000 students come to USA every year.

Mr. Pandit,

1. I can see you are frustrated not because you did not gain anything, but only because your friends in Australia or Canada succeeded in getting their citizen ships. I know it sucks, but the fact is, you would not have complained if they were on the same page as you are right now.

2. Typically, you should have finished your undergrad or even masters in 6 years of time. Apparently, your posting reflects that you have none at this time. Correct me if i am wrong! But, you DO NEED either money or intelligence to succeed in this country. Intelligence comes from working hard at your studies.

3. OPT/ CPT are the options to earn. Again, you need to be able to prove people( professors, employers, friends etc) to get benefits from either of these. Per my view, i do not honor those who seek financial help every semester from their parents.

4. In 6 years of time, you should have learned to respect others; no matter if its a refugee or a person who got here through DV Visa. Refugees have seen harder life than ours, so they should have more opportunities than we should. Have you even thought of staying in a camp for even a day without utilities (electricity, cable, internet, clean water)?

5. DV is a lottery. Its your luck. You cannot complain when a  Homeless person wins a million dollar jackpot  playing powerball.

6. So, if you do not have luck, have not suffered as much as refugees did, have no money, don't have not enough talent and intelligence, still totally dependent on your parents at this age, its useless for you to complain. You gotta work harder! If others can do it, why can't you?

USA tortures true students while it rewards who fake to get asylum. And just to add salt to wound it brings 55 k people every year. how is it fair that you spent years hear, pay all kinds of taxes: sales, employment , car registration, you learn to talk , walk eat like the people here and you are ready to serve yourself and this country after the graduation and all you get is a year of work permit. most companies do not wan to hire you and why would professors give a shyt. Well most Nepali students can't afford to go to expensive schools and are bound to go to school in places like alabama, texas, mn, etc..
these professors , not all of them are jerks. they have their 10 years and they don't give a shytt.
In aus you get points for going to school there. in UK after 1o years you get a PR. In USA if you're a student and if you hate to lie than you are going to be a one big fat loser after 10 years or so. I have cousins and friends who are honest and they don't have green cards after 12 and some 17 years.
i have personally met some corrupted politicians and Nepali police , army etc who totally faked and got their green cards within few years. definitely US immigration is unfair and broken.

Dimag kharab, you are concrete like always. That's it. When you come on student visa, you have told in the interview that you will go back to your country. So there is no provision in this visa neither will be in the future. For opportunities you need to upgrade to h1 or other immigrant visas, and it is easy if you wish to. So, I see no point in complaining. When you don't have a vision and plan, you end up getting nothing and only thing left is to complain. Grow up, do sth.

One more time couldn’t stop myself replying to threading
after reading such a totally philosophical and don’t even worth a penny advices.

Your actions
shapes your future. Who you are right now is because of what you did six years a
go”

Don’t know about him but I know some people including myself(and
I bet he did the same thing too) worked really hard..really hard to earn a
master degree to fulfill our dream in this land and we did it successfully too,
but after that stuck in that situation from where there is no way out.

Here is my story. Completed master degree, got an OPT. The
problem is that all company want to hire either permanent residence or
citizens. Quite few will go for the H1 too, and many of them even don’t what Opt
is? So all of us ended up with some head hunters(Indian consultancy) and I guess
I don’t have to explain how it will work? For us, it was recession and there was
no job we could able to land on. Don’t tell me we were not strong or motivated nobody
didn’t witnessed our hard work and motivation at that time. After spending almost
a year what would be the other option ? its not only my story,  beer  to you if 8 out of 10 people here in sajha doesn’t
reflect the same or similar kind of story.

"Where
there is a will there is a way"

Brother it is easier to write these words. There will be defiantly
a way if you can lie and cheat. So many people who lied and cheated are proud
citizens. Doesn’t matter whether it is case for the asylum , for h1, or
marriage or any other so called option. But they cheated at some point. Again,
all of you ask yourself (all h1 holders or citizens or pr) ,that paper you had
is because of your hard work, determination or just because at some point of
your life you cheated to  get that. Let
me see how many of your can come up with your story.

 “how about you spend ten
minutes of your life thinking what you want to achieve in the next ten years?

It’s bulls**t brother. Pardon my language but you know it
too. That ten minutes wouldn’t be good enough to determine what we want to achieve
in our life in next ten years. Did u try it with yourself? Where did you see
yourself ten years from now?

“This is a
typical mind set of Nepalese I come across. Blaming their situation and not
doing anything about

It’s not the typical mind set brother, sometimes its all
about the bad timing. You already know our situation, I would salute you or
anyone here in sajha who would come with an honest and genuine idea to solve
this problem. The problem is you can’t coz you know the situation too and u don’t
see any solution either.  You are lucky,
for whom time went good and your hard work yielded good results, but for us it
didn’t .We know the frustration brother don’t tell us we are not doing anything
about it. Coz we can’t.

“We should
not complain about USA bringing many refugee to this country or granting asylum
status to many people with fraud documents or DV winner

I do have problem when it brings a fake refugee. When it
grants fake asylum cases. An idiot who is on drug  all time, talk about shits and involve into
crime would get a green card, but people who have completed their PHD with an
honor would end up in some dhoti’s gas station or motel just because he doesn’t
have paper. How fair is that ? do you really think people who earned their PHD
degree hadn’t worked hard , wasn’t smart enough  or hadn’t have strong motivation?

As far as DV I don’t have any complain. Its luck and if you
are lucky you will be  a king.

“ You gotta work harder! If
others can do it, why can't you

Bidharthi, kasle kaam dincha ra h1 file garcha. Already nai
tetro padhi sakyo aaba OPT pani aaudaina. What are the other options? I am
talking about staying here in USA. Please don’t’ suggest to go back. It’s a
biter truth brother but no matter how hard we work it won’t give us any result, coz
we even don’t have a starting point now.

Sorry, if I wrote too hard words over here. With all these
words I want to finish my reply with :

“WHATEVER IT IS, AMERICA MA HARER PHARKINNA.”

I am not in student visa but i definately see the pain of studnets as i have and been living with Nepali students to save rent. Let us review the F1 structure from the very begenning. First of all, when you promise to return back on F1, that only applies till you get your visa. Once you get your visa and land here then you are free to go for H1bs, EB2, EB3, EB1, etc to stay here permantely. Even USCIS is aware of it, otherwise it would be illegal for F1 to apply for H1Bs.So please don't make it look like all students lied to get the VISA and they are obligated to return back, because they are not otherwise there would be no H1bs for US graduates F1s. Whatever you international student advisor tells you is not US laws most of the time. They just want to make sure that they get new fresh dollars (out of state ) from international students and their students don't run away from their institution so they can continue the blood sucking process in the future.

i am not complaning about America, but the American immigration system that fails to reconize the productive immigration compare to immigrants who are likely to file public welfares. I have met people in DV lottery who have failed to accomplish and left the country for good vowing never to return back. I have seen some coming and going for years, not fully being productive either in Nepal or USA. and I have seen softwares engineers and people of years of experience migrating to Canada because their hope to live in the country permanently is agonizing.

Tell me, why should a fake asylee get more chances to prosper in this country than a hard working F1 student? If they really need diversity, how about granting F1 students DV lotteries , that would serve the purpose of diversity and at the same time bring productive residents to the society.

American Immigration system will change. there are lots of politicans, good Americans and even the President to change it for good reasons. Until then F1 students' dreams will Crush.

And please kindly stop labelling me anti-American just because i think there is room for improvement in the current immigration. I love this country too :)

Have you guys realized that its only the students from poorer nations like ours, who decide to stay here?

What i believe is, for an international student, this country is already giving you more than what you have to get. When you prove the consular that your a son of a multi millionaire, what do you expect? The documents clearly states that your parents will be responsible for all your tuitions and other expenses and they earn at least a couple million every year to pay your bills. Not to forget, there is a legitimate agreement with your parents signature on your documents.

After you get here, you will be holding mostly all the privilege as the general Americans do. Driver's License, Bank Balance, buying house, social security, cell phones, credit score, visit any place inside US, part time employemnt, even they let you fiance a new car etc. So, only the restriction is the FULL TIME employment (if no EAD) until your in college. And, its true, its not  easy to get jobs these days due to poor economy and Intl' students are of course not the priority when millions of Americans are jobless. So, blame the economy instead of the country's policy.

Just think this, Would Nepal even allow an International students (eg. Indians) to open a bank account there or get  a job without a Nepalese citizenship? Forget about buying even a square inch of land.

Nothing is enough for a Man. Thats a universal truth. You always want to get more and never get satisfied with whatever you have. Refugee and DV scheme has given you ample reasons to complain, but believe in the fact that US need ENTRY LEVEL workers not the one with Masters and PhDs.

what you mean to say is there are no Indians in Nepal who are working because of the citizenship problems , ya right. most of the businesses are owned by Indian owners and you see tons of Indians working in those businesses. of course they won't like to work for civil jobs because you need to know Nepali but they would rather not work in govt and make crappy  money. Not only they open business most of the bank scams with fake collateral are taken out of Indian business men too. so there Nepal lets Indians own business in Nepal, open bank account  of course, and even take loans. how often do you see indians getting deported back to India for working illegally in Nepal, lol dude.

but we're talking about usa here so let's focus on that. using roads, shower, opening bank account is not a citizenry privilege. And quiet honestly no student is asking for citizenry privilege either. they are just asking for opportunity to live here and work here after their graduation. when you open bank account, it's good for the bank, economy the country overall. Now they don't let you open a bank account without money do they? so how are they doing a favor? the favor is student doing the bank not the other way around. same goes with using road; students pay sales taxes, fuel taxes, registration taxes, insurance taxes which all aid to federal and state govt to sustain smoother roads.
Just so you know US gains a lot of money from Universities who sponsor and bring F1 students. It's not a favor , it's a big revenue generating scheme. When students spend 4 times more to pay their out of state tuition they should be treated like customers not thieves. and they should have fair chance to get in the line of immigration in this country which still opens diversity lottery every year.

Indian Business owners in Nepal are out of context here. Even as a Nepali, if you have a millions of dollars and if you want to invest here in US you should be easily receiving Permanent Residency status as there is a provision now for those investers. And, the general Indians working for a private firm is similar to a Nepali Working for an Indian at a gas station here in US.

They have H1 Visa provision for those wanting to stay after graduation, so why are you guys whining so much. And, if you are talented enough, your employer will sponsor you for Greencards too. Point is; to live an American dream here in this foreign land you GOTTA HAVE extra qualification.

For almost all businesses, it is always helpful for employers to hire their own native population. As a Nepali who came here for Undergrad, can you be A Wedding planner?  A pastor? A Football Coach? Even a salesman? for these "khaires"--- NO!  RIGHT? So, we should also understand the fact that we cannot compete with Khaires in some aspects because we are not the same and they do not have to treat us like they treat their own population. STEREOTYPE is everywhere, even within us. So, Its their CHOICE. We will be always looked as a foreigner. No one can help that.

ECON 101- Business need to have best of what they need in order to succeed. Getting more int'l population in a college is like a Business for Universities here. They can promote diversity to attract more funding and more international student. You are here as an international student and for them you have to pay for everything because you are RICH enough to come to US for higher studies.

Regarding Policies: They do grant thousands of DV Visas every year. Its their policy. Because, you could not win DV means, they should not run these DV programs? Think once! What if they had changed their policy and stopped issuing visa for STUDENTS? Would you be here?

Now, the fake Asylum papers. Asylum is not as easy to obtain as it was a few years ago. They have recently changed the policy which makes it even harder. So, again it was a luck. Whoever filed with fake papers before and got the Greencard, eventhough it was unethical, got it! You cannot stop that. Prachanda, who killed thousands of innocents also became the prime Minister of Nepal. It was George Bush himself, who destroyed the World Trade Center towers in 9/11/2001, but Osama was blamed for it. ( Watch Documentery Fahrenheit 911). Armstrong never made is to moon back in 60s but they were able to deceive billions of people around the world ( I forgot the name of documentary). So, people make their LUCK all the time through unethical means. Robbers, Murderers who never got caught are living a luxurious life. Thats the Irony. But, you should not be comparing yourself with anyone who are living their American dream through their fake Asylum papers. You are better than those.
