This means there are a lot of rich people in Nepal who could afford to send their kids to college in US.

I am guessing one of them you are too? Did you come to USA on full bright scholarship? Those who came to study science and technology and were able to get some scholarship and work hard to finish, some in other field good too. Some of them were rats at home and parents could not control and send them to abroad and luckily over half of them did really good as they felt responsibility and motivated. Some came to just aboard and many of them are working hard making money and sending enough to support family. Among them some of them are not able to see family over 20 years, It is a story of mix. Let's worry about myself and yourself because we may not help them.

It's a land of opportunity and welcome aboard!!!!!!!!!!.

That's a lot, best of luck to all for their hunt for good study and life........ Hope we all will do well. Let's work hard to help ourselves...........

I noticed that most of them are undergraduate students and lesser are the master's and PhD's.

That's good statics to see Nepali diaspora is increasing in US.
The good thing  is people are coming here and facing reality of life learning to struggle and be independent in life.I see people working very hard and landing in decent jobs. But I still recommend to complete undergraduate and master's in home country and try here in graduate studies(MS,PhD) with grants so that will be smoother and stable path ahead.I don't think most parents can support education in undergraduate without scholarships and working and making enough money to study is too stressful.Hope that helps for anyone looking forward to pursue studies here.

It is an interesting stat for a small country like ours.
Though we have a good strength of students here in US, 18% of grad vs 72% undergrad is unlike the distribution of our neighbors China & India. I am not sure what % of  undergrads get to complete their degree and either enroll for a grad school or get a decent job. Undergrad studies in the US is tough financially and also take longer time before one graduates. I only wished most of the Nepalese students here could land up getting a good job and a have prosperous future.  This would certainly impact the development of our country through evolution if not revolution.
Nepalese are hard working students but we lack information and patience prior to arrival to the US. If only we could advise and suggest our relatives and friends coming to US about the right process to get here-take time to prepare for GRE,GMAT,TOEFL...etc.,apply to multiple schools with diligence and without worrying too much about application fees, write a good essay etc,it benefit the incoming student and the Nepalese community in the long run.

And one more request- let us make Sajha a better community.

Jai Nepal

I suggested as Gothalo saying but I got a very bad reputation since then, I did not tell them the life I faced and will be facing but gave the best. You know, they think they are much more smarter than you and me, they do not need suggestion but just the visa to inter USA, that is all and every things will be taken care of itself.
Now a days I do not suggest  any more.
