Discussion in FACEBOOK: BUDDHA WAS BORN IN NEPAL /http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=112791451329&topic=12195

FACEBOOK GROUP: FAREED, BUDDHA  WAS  BORN IN NEPAL

First of, in no way am I defending Zakaria’s claim that Buddha was born in India, that sir is flat out wrong (My sentiments remain unchanged, you on the other hand seem to be fuming trying to defend something that does not need to be defended)
Second, I was speaking on behalf on myself and not MOST of the PEOPLE so you should just relax.
As I have said it is my opinion that I do not care and it does not matter to me where he was born. I am sticking by the official word that he was born in the PRESENT NEPAL, why should I have to go out there and defend that notion? I still feel that Buddha’s birthplace totally has no bearing on my how I view and follow his teachings; regardless of where he was born I would have still followed it.
His birthplace therefore IN MY OPINION has no significant impact on how Buddhism has flourished.

Let's write to Kiran Chhetri who works in CNN too about this. She may be able to help to get his attention if othwrwise he does not bother responding.

Anybody has a link to Kiran? Please e-mail her to talk to Fareed.

You asked Buddha's citizenship,
You also tried to clarify Historical evidence on Buddha's birthplace on your earlier comments,
I was merely trying to share my opinion to correct it as I just could not agree to falsified facts and basis on labeling Buddha's as Indian.
I respect your personal opinion, however, we all should respect that of other's too. We should expect response when one says, it doesn't matter or is irrelevant. Thanks.

Agreed, I am in no way trying to cross anyone’s belief, I was just trying to show how Nepal and India are still fighting over it when in fact none of these nation ever existed at the time of Buddha’s birth. My other point is that I feel Buddha does not and should not belong to any particular state, for his teachings are what he was known for throughout the world and he should be respected accordingly and not by which nation he was born into.

Cyberlegend...
U need bit of a logic in your head.
Jesus was born under the Roman empire, controlled by Romans, infact he was killed by the Romans by Roman authority (the cross...you get it). Yet when you ask people "Where was Jesus born?", the answer is "Jerusalem" and not "Rome Italy" which is nowhere close to modern day Jerusalem. If they claim Buddha was born in India, then with the same logic, Jesus should have be born in Rome. Try to say that to the world and see what reactions you'll get. They'll call you idiot.
What makes you think Buddha's case is different? At least the Romans had a distinct presence in the history about their rule kingdom and their land during those days. India simply didn't exist at all during the time of Buddha.
This is simply India flexing muscles with wrong historical facts. Let me remind you, this is not a fight about religion, it is about history. So don't bring the "Buddha's message" type of BS.

Why in the world we care so much about ‘Where Buddha was born’?? Huh??? We Nepalese are so proud of Buddha being a Nepali?

We won't get tired screaming that Buddha was a Neaplese, Mt. Everest in Nepal, Tenjing Sherpa was Nepalese…. Bla. .bla….bla….

Damn……. We act inhuman burning tiers, taking away people’s right to walk, drive, work, shop, we make pieces of our beautiful country in the name of Caste. We hurt/kill journalists who dare to write, we kill millions of innocent animal to make Goddess happy, we take 3 months days off out a year in the name of festivals; ………you name it……….we have so much disgusting things to be ashamed of.

I don’t think Buddha would have taken  Nepalese Citizenship if he was alive today. He would rather have filled out DV.

'बुद्ध भारतीय
थिए, बुद्ध दर्शन पनि भारतमै पत्ता लागेको थियो तर बौद्धमार्गीहरू भारतमा
छैनन्',

I dont think Fareed said Buddha was born in India. He said Buddha was Indian, it doesn't mean he was born in India. During Buddha's time, the borders of countries were not specified as today. Nepal also had many kingdoms, Buddha's was a prince of one of such small kingdoms. During that time, there was no specific country as Nepal or India.

The argument is wrong if it specifically states " Buddha was born in India".

My facts about Buddha:
Born in Nepal.
Went to India and gained salvation/knowledge. spent most of his life in India.
Died in India.

There was no India Nepal when Buddha was born. But he was born in what is currenly known as Lumbini (Nepal). He got his enlightenment from Gaya (India).

Should we really care where Buddha was born?

Things have changed. We are trying to change our flag. We are breaking the country into multiple pieces and have already declared 16 caste-based states. Nepali will no longer be a national language (ask our ex VP) and Nepali poshak will be revised.  People are suggesting the change of name as well.

Tomorrow if you ask me I won’t be able to tell you where I was born, since there might not even be NEPAL. If I don’t care where I was born, why should I care where the Shakya Muni was born.

And you are one big macho man giving names to people behind the shield of cyberspace.

If you think that’s a compliment then I suggest u seriously check your stupid brain. What I wrote was a sarcasm on present Nepal. The direction Nepal is heading to, we won’t even have a Nepal, then why worry about who was Nepali and who was not? Shouldn’t the urgency be to save Nepal? But then again you wouldn’t understand that, you are too quick to throw another stone and burn another tire coz somebody said you have dirty windows; did you even check if your house exists?

I heard that Kbhanchayobhai posted some threats to Nepalese girl in US, posting  picture online. I am totally against it. This guy must be showing the sign of Psychological depression. We must take attention to this kind of behavior online. And now he is changing the thread with different topics diverging people's mind. This is 100%  is path of Psychopath. Our girls are in danger in Campus. If anyone know this guy personally, help him out to get medical attention right away. Thank you.

Does it make any difference too all the people who know and care about Buddha or Buddhism if some ignorant says buddha was born in India or Hong Kong , No. because  i would guess they already know the fact. and does it make any difference if buddha was born in india or Nepal for all the ignorant out there or those people who don't give a rat ass about it, Big No too.

so let's chill, if you are unhappy with somebody's lack of knowledge, just find out him/her email and give them a good lesson in a very civilized manner.

that's all i gotta say.
