That's a dumb question. Accounting standards being different in every country, you should know that US CPA is valid in US only.

I don't think that question was that dumb..because I know so called CAs in Nepal actually have designations from India..so, I thought there would be a possibility that Nepal recognizes designations from more than one country..does anybody here have any idea about it?

It's like asking whether a criminal law degree from US is valid in Nepal. Of course, it is valid regardless of where you go. But would you be able to fight the criminal cases with what you learnt in US, that's unlikely.

I am not concerned about my ability..it will take sometime to learn the accounting rules there..and, I believe Nepal follows IASB standard which is close to US GAAP..so, it won't be hard to learn and use it..what I was concerned is the validity to audit..like there are some stuffs that needs to be done by CPA here..and, in Nepal too there are some accounting stuffs that need to be done by some certified accounting professionals..I believe CAs with Indian designation do those and I am curious whether CPA with US designations can do the same stuffs..thanks....

As far as I know The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) - http://www.ican.org.np/ is the only professional body for accountants in Nepal. If you are referring to the recognition by this body, then you will not be eligible as they only recognize CA's from foreign coutries including US. So I don't know where your US CPA will stand as far as getting a formal recognition is concerned. That said, it should not stop you from getting jobs in Nepal. Obviously, it's more about how you sell your skills, exepriences and designation to the potential employers. Considering there are a few multinationals in Nepal with interanlation financial reporting obligations, I wouldn't think you would face much problem getting a job.

I am not aware of multinational accounting firms with location in Nepal. But large companies, especially multinationals and commercial banks in Nepal, usually get audited by Big 4.

You, of all people, should know that you need a CPA license of that particular region to officially practice accounting as a CPA. A CPA in Cali would have to go through whole sets of exams to be a CPA of Florida.

However, that doesn't mean you cannot audit an account. You don't need CPA license to audit. That means, you can goto Nepal and learn the laws (IASB which is slightly different than GAAP) and practice auditing. You just won't be recognized as a CPA. Besides, Nepal doesn't even call them CPA, we call them CAs.
