in my I-94, i mistakely change my dob in mm/dd/yy. it was in dd/mm/yy format for the first time when it was inspected at the port of entry. do i have to correct it by replacement or it will be fine if i will change it back to dd/mm/yy format by myself with a pen. i asked my international advisor and he told me that it is ok and no need to spend $340.00 for the replacement.

Bro,

I had a similar problem. Some thing was wrong on my I-94, so I just went to the INS office (it was INS back then) and explained them the situation. They corrected it and stampped it indicating that the correction was geniune. The whole process took about 15 minutes and did not have to spend any money. But, of course it was some years back, however, the process should still be the same. Try it out at a USCIS office or at USCIS office at airports.

Good Luck to you!

Please visit one of these deferred sites available at http://www.cbp.gov/linkhandler/cgov/toolbox/contacts/deferred_inspection/deferred_inspection_sites.ctt/deferred_inspection_sites.pdf

You may also wish to make an appointment for INFOPASS with USCIS at www.uscis.gov.

Good Luck.

Remeber the USCIS will correct I-94 in which they did mistake. If you did mistake then you have to go to Custom Border Protection Office. You can go to nearest CBP office or port of entry. Follow the link provided above thread. You can have all infomration including which local office handles what. It may not be necessary that you need to go to port of entry. You call CPB office at appropriate location for you and take an appointment. Take your passport and I-94. They will correct and stamp. Never make correction on govt documents yourself. Also the data on govt system should also be correct. If the information on your I-94 and data system doesnot match, you will have trouble in future. Also remember DOB is very vital data in US.

One more thing, it does not cost a penny to make correction on I-94 from CPB office except gas cost to go there.

This suggestion is from my experience as I had my parents I-94 get correct at local office as they had similar error like yours.
