trek jee, I don't think there is a Nepali Christian population big enough to make a single congregration in Boston. When I was in Boston, I used to go to Malden First Church of the Nazarene. There is only one another Nepali Christian family in Boston and as far as I know they go to Hope International Church in Waltham.

timrokura jee and danger jee, please don't imply that all non-hindus of nepalese origins or those living in Nepal are not true Nepalese. Nepal is char jaat chattis barna ko phoolbari. And now, even the constitution makes our country a secular one. A Nepali chhora can go to a temple, a gomba, a church, a masjid or he / she can be an agnostic or an atheist - that does not make any difference to the fact that a nepalese is always a nepalese. Thanks.

Growing up in Nepal-we're taught shit even by our own mom and dad
I was on of those Nepali who hated Christian Nepali. After learning a little bit about them (I'm not a Christain) and showing a little bit of tolerance, I've a different view now. I respect them for their effort to spread their religion. No matter what their past, at present we Hindus and Buddhist cannot compare to their strategy. They go to remote places and literally help poor people with houses and improve their life. What's so bitterness when we have not done anything for those poor. Why be jealous? The poor convert to Christian, it's because of us, cause we neglect them through social class, race and CASTE. So instead of hating them, it's about time to improve your strategy. Maybe if they were well off since the beginning, they might not convert to Christian, which we can only dream about. Looking at the current situation of the country and where we're heading, there will be more converting in the future, so stop being a hater. Learn how to wipe your ass before pointing your fingers to other.

Well,

I know the faces of Nepalese Christian,

I F***ED myself volunteering Nepal YMCA during the Year of 2001 and 2002,

I know how they act,

I too have no bad feeling for those who are christian, but I have met some weird Brahmin Folks who turned into Christian, and Calls themselves as a paster, and try to recruit other people badly,

I was once here in Christian Church in Irving Texas, Not because I was a christian,

Just coz this dude met me once, and he invited me and I am pretty liberal dude, so I went,

I participated in the prayers and everything, I love singin gospal songs and stuff,

BUT

Lastly that dude literally told me

"" पटक सोच्नुहोस्, के तपाईं आफ्नो विश्वाश अनी धर्म सँग सन्तोष हुनुहुन्छ? अनी थाहा पौनु हुन्छ तपाईं कस्तो सोच अनी संसार म हुनुहुन्छ , एशु ले तपाईं लाई बोलौनु भएको आवाज सुन्न खोज्नुहओस"

And I was like, "SUCK ma D**K."

And I had no respect for that Dude, from that day, and I keep other folks away from him.

He calls himself as paster, well may be he is, non of my business,

We hindu we dont say those stuff to make people accept our religion,

Well i dont know if u had these sorts of problem too... but I really disliked his way of spell bounding.

but hey I respect those who are christian, who know the Bible, and who respect jesus, because I like Bible too...as I do like Gita.

Timrokura
Brahmin will be bramins no matter what religion they adapt, look at our piece of shit brahmin leaders. I'm not talking about some F%% brahmins who pissed u up. I'm talkin about Westerners coming to Nepal and helping poor with shelter, job and a sense of belonging.
"We hindu we dont say those stuff to make people accept our religion" Is that a bragging criteria for Hindu? Just because we don't say doesn't mean anything, but we imply and practice a lots of BS that makes poor people's life difficult and unbearable like CASTE, do you want more?
let's agree that being Hindu or Buddhist doesn't make us better than Christain or the Jews.

Rewire, aaphnai ghar ma aago lagda koi aarka ko ghar ko aago bujhauna janna.

Why do you think these so called missionaries come to Nepal, when they have enough to take care of, in their own country? Do you know whats the crime rate in US? Do you know how many kids who are abused and raped in so called western countries? Don't you think they could use some missionary in US and Europe for their own greater good?

If they really wanted to do something for humanity then they would have helped their own people first. BUT whats the use. Those drug addicts, those juvenile criminals,  those under aged prostitutes (from US, Europe and Eastern Europe) are already Christians.

For these reasons they go to in search for new MURGAS in Nepal, in Africa where there is poverty and people can me manipulated for dimes. They go to remote villages in the name of charity, but their real motive is conversion.

I would have still let them go away with it, but what they are doing is creating a different problem. We were already divided in terms of race and ethnicity and now religion? Where these new religions come from? Christianity and Islam? Whats their impact on the society as a whole? Do you ever think of that? All you see is helping and thats how they are blind folding you. Just like those seven Nepalese blink folded and murdered in cold blood in Iraq, and thats all they are good at.

Lastly, if they had faith in their own religion then they wouldn't have undertaken a policy of conversion for a house or a bike. May be people would have come to them themselves (converted from heart). But, they would give you a house only and only if you convert.  Can I ask why not give someone a house or a bike when when he is not ready to convert? Do they think just because people don't wanna convert makes them inferior in the eyes of the god? What rubbish.

At least we Hindus and Buddhists don't do that crap. We know exactly what we are practicing and we believe in it. We believed in it when there was no Christianity and we will be believing in it when Christianity will no longer be there. He if Christ ever existed he is just 2000 years old. We had moved from Religious paradigm to Chanakyas paradigm of thought when he was born.

Lastly, if someone comes to help is. I would say the same thing what our ancestor have been saying. "Aathithi deva bhava". However, if that guest wants to come in my house and burn it. I will make sure that he/she is dead before they can touch/hurt my family.

Jai Nepal

The REAL REASON is;

According to the Bible (and also the Quran), one of the 4 main duties of a Christian is to SPREAD THE WORD OF GOD. This entails missionaries going to remotest places in the world trying to convert people. This is mandated by the Bible and it is a duty of Christians to convert non-believers.

I am a Hindu Bahun, and I don;t see a problem with conversion. In Nepal we have sidelined millions of people for ages on the basis of caste. What does a dalit person get for being Hindu? Only disparity, hatred and other words describing abhorrent connotations. I say phuck it, a person has the right to choose their religious beliefs, so I have no problems if somebody wants to convert.

NCP maoist converted people from rolpa and rukkum to maoist ideology. the same way

cristians are converting people of bikat pahad to christianity. Maoist slogan to poor

people of Pahad was "timi haaru sarbahara barga you have nothing to loose, if you

win you have the whole world in front of you" similarly this christians especially this

missinary people come to Nepal and do good things to convert people to christianity.

wenever i meet this christians people anywhere in the world especially the khaires,

they start marketing their relegion. Actually in my opinion anybody can choose

their religion. People have the right for their own beliefs.. But one should not sell their religion, religion

is not for selling. you cannot bye it it should come within you..

religion is not for buying and selling it is the inherited thing.

That is true and we are much more secular then them to start with. I don't mind going to church and even praying because I know my place and by beliefs. No other religion can take it away from me. At the same time I don't go around people forcing them into my religion and I don't have any problems if they want to believe in it. I don't mind thanksgiving turkey or spending a Christmas with Christians (and at the same time, I don't expect them to celebrate dashain and tihar either).

Bottom line: I am ready to respect them as long as they have a mutual respect for us.

Why they cant be somewhat sensible in the 21st century?

AND
Rewire
Writing in bold does not intimidates me. We are discussing an issue, please do discuss. The only way you can change my opinion (which I am open to) is answering my questions above (and writing in bold and intimidating language has nothing to do with it.)

MN, there's nothing to discuss with people like you who hallucinate and bring irrelevant issue. You mentioned crimes, drugs, sex, Muslim above. What is that to do with what we're discussing? Where did the issue of Muslim come on this discussion? If you want to go back that far, did you know we're all African, let's go that far. Human being originated from Africa, so we're not Nepali. We're African. See what I mean. It's dumb. You implied that crime will only happen with Christian faith, and rest of the other factors too. With that type of thinking in your head, I feel sorry for you. I do not want to discuss with you. Good luck.

Well if you could not understand the question thats being discussed then you shouldn't have stepped in.

Thats fine. I respect your opinion.
I don't mind the concept of being from Africa and I am ready to be that provided the people who are trying to covert accept it.
That would definitely end the topic.

Missionaries who help others under the condition of conversion to Christianity are not real Christians - as far as I am concerned. I converted out of my own will. I did not talk to any missionaries. Jesus did not discriminate nor did he demand that a person be his follower in return for his miracles. He even healed a Roman centurion's boy-servant and cure a royal official's son. But many missionaries have been "spreading the word" conditionally - which I consider wrong. This kind of misinterpretation of holy teachings has been happening in other faiths too - hindus and muslims for example. I am talking about the extremists. Like the ones who did not eat the offerings at Harka Bahadur jee's pooja. I knew someone who refused to accept tika from his own family after he converted.

I celebrate dashain, bhai tika etc but for me those are social festivals. And the rituals don't have religions meaning to me anymore but I am a Nepali too and dashain ko tika and bhai tika from my sister means consolidating my ties with my Hindu relatives and friends.

Once I had a debate with an Indian Christian regarding my views. He claimed that "yoga" would be unchristian becasue "yoga" came from "yog" which was a Hindu name for a Hindu ritual. But he claims to have actually met Jesus when he went for "tapasya" in the jungle. After that I distanced myself from that individual - may God forgive me for that.

I may not follow many of the church's doctrines but let's not forget that neither did a certain German monk in early 16th century and his name was Martin Luther.

Well Luther started his own church, which does discriminates. I don't think u'd ever see a black guy in there. Its growing into another form of Hinduism in itself.
And FYI --technically Hinduism does not outsiders to convert. There is Hare Krishna for them. (Of course not my opinion)

There is no church that closes its doors to a person based on his color or nationality. Anyone can go to a church and pray - even a non-Christian. A couple of years back my church invited two muslim scholars to the church and talk about muslim philosophy.

yes, Hinduism is the only major religion which does not accept new "converts". Hindu authorities do not regard the Hare Krishna followers as Hindus. Hindus refused to officially recongnize Mick Jagger's marriage to Jerry Hall in a temple in Bali, Indonesia. In order to be a Hindu, someone has to be born to Hindu parents - something that the individual does not have any control over.
