- You can see Indians in almost every company these days. Especially in IT related companies, 80 percent of programmers are Indian. Out of 80 percent, 95 percent of them have fake and manipulated resumes.

Very few Americans have idea that those Indians are getting job with those fake resumes. Americans simply trust those Indians. I just don't know why. Those white American have no clue that they are being misled. This is happening in every American-owned company.

Do you buy this? I am seeing this in my everyday life.

And justhuman raised another concerns of criminal conducts done by Indian companies. Those Indian companies make fake income and revenues and cheat IRS. I have seen Indian companies who hire Indian CPA and make fake revenues.

Some Indian IT companies run IT (QA) trainings. They only accept cash and don't give receipts. I have seen these directly here in DC metro area. They never show the actual income.

What do you think about this? Isn't it a crime?

in many cases, the reason contractors are hired is because a project is already underway, one is expected to perform right away & there could be very little learning curve involved. if you can't do the job then lying and an exaggerated resume will not help. i've seen people quit even after they were hired because they could not perform or were fired for obvious reasons. a good hiring manager will know right away when a consultant is lying if s/he can't back up what's in the resume. these days many big companies want to hire you after a round of interviews and not just over the phone especially if its a perm position. i think many managers in the IT industry are aware of fake resumes. since locals here do not "lie" to that extent, could be that many managers think the resumes are real and ask little experience related questions.

Get the Job done! that matters than the Resume. If you know how to do it then you are good. DONT make a fake resume unless you know how to deal with the Shit !

mickey mouse, what's with your holier than thou attitude that is so damn fake that even a hooker looks like a nun compared to what you've just said.  What is this topic trying to prove??  I see no point in pulling others down who may have used the system correctly to their benefit.  On the same note, didn't you as a student or most of us Cheat the US govt/Americans too?  During the visa interview questions, we state we are gonna return back to Nepal after completing our education but never do.  We provide sponsor letters and bank balances telling them how we would be able to finance the 1st year's education on our own but end up working the very week after we get here (or try to).  A majority of us here have worked off the books defrauding the system and every summer hoardes of us go to OC and other areas working 2 shifts using the SS we weren't supposed to be using in the first place.  Isn't the above the same as lying on the resume?  A resume is used for gaining access into a job wheras the F-1 is used for gaining access into the US.  If someone cheats on his/her resume, who are we to call the kettle black when we've done the exact same violation with our F-1 visas??

C'mon dude, before even talking about cheating on such a trivial thing as a resume, lets clean up our act first by not cheating the same govt who has given a better life for most who come here seeking that dream.

BTW, a lotta Neps too are hired through these dhoti consultancies that pump up one's resume with steroids to no avail.  Its not their fault that they are doing what it takes to make it here.  C'mon the system is being broken down every day and pointing fingers to a particular group when we ourselves do the same is completely hypocritical and ignorant.

I think that it would be wise for all South Asians not to pull each others legs. Do you want to continue the tradition? Do you want to stay in US legally? Do you want to get a job after graduating?
If your answer is No to the first question and YES to the last 2 questions, then shut the f**k up and follow the steps that Indians have established.
You are in Corporate America. What matters like sb said before is RESULT.
You will be able to differentiate if this is moral and ethical  after you graduate and do not find a job and every company will ask you after interview if you are a citizen or a Green Card holder.

I think Indians know how to treat Americans.

I graduated from a University in USA, and I am a pretty good student too. But I had no real experience before. I applied to a lot of positions that I could do well.  80% of times, I wasn't even responed back. I had a few interviews in 3 months. And none of them resulted in a job.

I eventually decided to do what the Indians do. I faked my resume, put 5 years of experience with whatever skill they are looking for. And I got hired within a couple of weeks.

So I went in to this position which demanded 7 years of experience, and had no experience at all in reality. The first three months were difficult, more so due to communication skills than technical. After I started feeling comfortable with the environment, I started doing very well at the job.

Now one and a half years later, they think I am a genius. But I am in fact the same nervous guy with no experience. And I haven't changed much technically.

Believe me, 90% of americans at work are dumb. In the meetings, even if he knows just 30% of what you know, he will make himself look like a guru asking  all sort of questions. The rest 10% are real hardworking and dedicated and are the ones who rule the world.

If you want to get recognized in USA, just fake it.

exactly, I am still a student so I can't speak from Howard's perspective. But it looks like people who've "fallen victim" to the Indian consultancies have mostly their communication skills to blame. I mean if you can't even write a grammatically coherent sentence, who's gonna give you a job?. Most people fret about their GPA's, but I guess when it comes to landing a job, communication skills are just as important, especially when you pad your resume. If you can't back up your resume with an intelligent speech, they'll catch you for sure.

Remember, to be a successful person, you should also reflect a successful persona, and a lot of it can derive from  impeccable communication skills. Improve your English people.

How can you fake a resume? Don't they cross check your reference to your previous mentioned employer/s? If they don't then its their problem. Isn't it?

Howard nice to hear that from you. Same thing with me man. I had just 20 hard days. Now, I'm enjoying my work. I'm doing a job where most of my friends over here have at least of 15 years of experience.
I'm getting an experience of life time where no studies can take you. This is how it is.
Be strong at your heart and believe in yourself .

By the way Dave, you're right about Victims.  I saw same with some of the guys. They had really hard time communicating in an interview.

Guys, by the way if you are hard working and good in communicating you are good for any position.
