Heaveninhell, no disrespect, but i never heard of that school.  Anyway, we're here to make this a platform for all the ex-students of Dazzling district and Darjeelingeys to meet up and your likes are very welcome.  Did you guys take part in the Inter school Athletics, etc.  Or more importantly were you guys ICSE or CBSE?  If CBSE, then you missed out on a lotta Interschool events.

Just fyi - Loreto College is being handed over to the WB govt at the end of this month.

The Loreto insitution will no longer have a say in the college's administration .Also the name of the college is to be changed...most likely it will be called Southfield but the decision has not yet been made.

It's just one of those nostalgic moments of my life.

Phoenix, really?  Damn, can they do that to a school which has already built a legacy on that "name"?  I think that the Ex-LCites should object to such a move as Loreto is synonymous with girls of a genteel, well-cultured and well educated mannerisms.  C'mon, this move should be protested.  Are you gonna say you're from Southfield, now?

BTW, good to have someone revive this thread from its vacation into Limbo.

Hey Samsara, thanks for your response.

It's just the college that's being taken over by the govt . The school's gonna be around (150 + years can't go to waste).

The ex-lcites tried , but in vain. The news had been around for the past year or so . Of course each one of us were in a state of shock but then what needs to be done should be done.

So there you go - we are ex-southfielders ( dat just doesn't sound right hai?)

Phoenix, damn, thats really sad for the College girls there...Why are Indians so obsessed with changing names (Calcutta to Kolkota, Madras to Chennai, Bombay to Mumbai, etc.)?  Is it to create a legacy for the person/politician who put the new name?  This is outrageous!

Latoboy, you dumazzz...Enough of being a wannabe gangsta, azzhole...Listen, why don't you show up this Sunday since I always go to Sean Ogs (a bar on 60th Street and Woodside where nepalis frequent).  I've had enough of you giving me a fake address and not being there.  And I really have no time to waste on lil puzzies who talk shit here but does not walk the walk like the Samsara does.  I challenge peeps and I SHOW UP and few peeps in sajha have seen me ever since I went to Union Sq last October to fight someone who was as puzzy as you who never showed up!  Show up this Saturday night at Sean Ogs...Its gonna be fun (for me).

Hey, get your friends too...My friends want to pound on your friends too...Thats what happens to those who are friends with the "lato" aka fool!

Sahayog party,

What is the meaning of your school motto; Ours was "Semper ad Maiora" which is "Strive for higher attainments"----West Point School.

Phoenix di le ta hernu bhayo hola...Darjeeling times ma.......Just want to share this lovely poem...

Courtesy: AMONG OURSELVES (School magazine) by St. Joseph’s School. (Gorkhaland special)

Beloved Gorkhaland

Nirajan Shrestha 11Arts
North Point School, Darjeeling

“Not a hometown but a home,
Not a birthplace, but a place I can call my own”

I am from Nepal and a student of Class Eleven Arts at North Point. After a lot of crying and clinging on to my mother’s hand I was dragged to this place for my schooling. As my studies continue here I am finally in my second last year in this school. Twelve full years spent in these hills which I can never forget. Out of my seventeen years from birth, I have spent more than half of my youth in this hamlet, away from my motherland yet this town did not give me the sensation being away from home even a bit.

“Twelve full years in this town, but yet never got lost when walking around.
All my gratitude goes to the people here, who became friends and families to me very dear.”

People over there are like my own, every face seemed familiar with chinky eyes, red cheeks and fair complexion I did not have much trouble communicating because they spoke the same language which our people spoke back at home. Never got the feeling of being away from home and sometimes used to wonder whether I am in Nepal. So familiar have I got with this place that it gives me the urge to join and do something for this land. Though I know I can not do much, I can write these small two paragraphs from my heart. It gives me great pleasure to see the people unite together, and fight as a family for their birthright.

“And deep inside my foreign soul,
I know that there is a ray of hope.
To someday watch the people get,
For what they longed and often wept.
And on that someday I will step in this land,
Saying, this is my beloved Gorkhaland”.

GORKHALAND – MY DREAM

Ninad Vajra Rai
Class IV “C’
North Point School, Darjeeling

Today I woke up in the morning and saw that it was a very sunny day. I heard the birds singing sweetly. When I opened the window, I saw people singing and dancing. My mother told me that we have got Gorkhaland. When I heard this, I was full of joy. I also started singing and dancing with my friends. Then suddenly my mother was shaking me up and saying, “Get Up! Otherwise you will get late for school.” I woke up again and found myself in bed. It was a dream a very beautiful dream. I am waiting for that day to come to my life.

La thik cha

La Thik Cha, Good to see you bro...Per Ardua Ad Astra, our school motto meant "Through Hardwork to the Stars". And yes,  I can very well relate to the first article that you posted since I studied within the Darjeeling District for ten years myself.

Gaulebhai, Which batch are you? I went to Himali Boarding School (HBS) Kurseong for 3 years (Class 2-4) before I moved on to SAS. Lots of memories have faded but I still remember Himali's creepy corridors which was made scarier by seniors who never shyed away from talking about ghost stories. I think it was in the year 1996, that the the students performed the spectacular Drama "Jesus Christ SuperStar" in the annual concert. Few years later, they played the same drama in Kalimpong's Townhall and we boarders were taken by the School hostel to watch it but as usual we bunked the event.

Dekchidriver, Welcome you are to hang around in here. Naintal, wowww!! BTW, I like your writings bro!!

Unicornis, Thanks! Where did you go to school?

Maddogg, I have heard of Lovebuds school in Darjeeling!
