guys, I am planning on watching a ton of movies this week. My personal faves are the godfather (1-2), lord of the rings trilogy, star wars (the old ones are my favorites), pretty much all of Al Pacino and De Niro's old movies, bruce lee movies, the usual suspects, shawshank redemption, matrix (the very 1st one), das boot, even pirates of the caribbean. and oh yes, the bourne identity/supremacy.
problem is, I have already seen those numerous times. I am not big bollywood fan either (unless you can convince me otherwise)
so, all my sajha brethren, drop a line or two with some suggestions you think are worth mentioning. Thanks.

Ran (directed by Akiro Kurosawa i.e. much better version of King Lear)
Dr Zhivago (epic love story, always inspires me to find the right woman)
Lawrence of Arabia (spendour and aura of the Arabian desert)
Ben Hur (the best chariot racing scene in movie history)
Point Break (Keanu Reeves came of age)
Out of Africa (another tear-jerker)
Star Trek: Generations (the tale of two legendary captains of the galaxy)

and so it goes on....

.If you truly want to watch the greatest movies ever made (and yes, they are also interesting), you have to watch the old classics. here's a list of a few of them:

Yojimbo (Japanese, director: Akira Kurosawa)
Rashomon(Japanese, director: Akira Kurosawa)
Good, Bad and the Ugly (Clint Eastwood in his best)

I will list the others later.

watched Samjhana when I was a kid...still remember my mom crying when tripti dies of some form of cancer..and the songs were awesome.
winds of change..thats quite an inventory you got...I am not looking for the entire portfolio though, just some really good movies you wish everyone else saw. I am that way with the godfather, for instance

I watched "Children of the Bride" a long time back, which I really liked. However, no one seems to have seen it. I can't find it anywhere. I want to watch it again to see if I like it again :) Has anyone seen the movie??

Depends on mood and season for me. My all time fav is Its a Wonderful Life. Boy Jimmy Stewart was sooo handsome... They don't make that type of men anymore.. Watch Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.

Hitchcock movies I love The Rear Window and can watch anytime. Psycho, North By NOrthwest are nice too.

There is another movie I loved is Gregory Peck's To Kill a Mocking Bird. Gone with the wind (though I love the book better)... is another movie I loved.. Love Clark Gable. The Sound of Music.. hmmm Julie Andrews was sooooo pretty singing Do Re Me

May be what you can do is.. consider watching the oscar/golden globe award winner movies.... you won't regret.. :)
