Has anyone tried to get a hongkong transit visa? The airfare by Cathay Pacific is still a lot cheaper than other airlines. Was wondering how difficult is it to get visa for HK in order to take the Cathay Pacific airlines.

Also, who travelled through Delhi? I know this has come up a many times but still wondering if anyone had first hand experience. What do you do for 14 hours at the Delhi airport and that too at night? How are the bathrooms there and food?

Thanks!

sweetie,
I've travelled through Delhi, it could be too hot for many folks from Nepal. It's OK but try to be in a group. They really do not care as much as they used to 10 years back (in terms of harassment) but they have beefed up security. The worst part is our Nepali guy in charge of ticket clearance. So trust them but do verify (I had a very bad experience about 9 years ago; the guy sold my ticket to another passenger thinking I was not travelling (??) and had to wait 12 more hours at night).
They have a very good restaurant inside the airport, I think, called Raja or so.

Errr.... I heard from my friend [ who travelled to Nepal via HK abt 2 months ago] that even transit visas are not being issued to Nepalese ppl at the moment. I think it's best to get intel frm your nearest Hong Kong consulate. Good luck!

Hey SweetP,

I had travelled via Hongkong in transit visa 6 months ago. But I had applied from Thailand and I got the Visa in just one day. If you are travelling to US or Canada via Hongkong, transit Visa should not be a big deal accorindg to my experience. DOn't know things have changed recently.

my friend,
delhi is not bad as it was twenty years ago. technology and the way people think has changed. so don't be so nervous, take your ipod (but be sure to declare as dhoti's might want to confiscate), take a good book, then make sure your stay hydrated. you should be fine.

good luck
