Here we go, I wanted to start a new thread....about DOG.....I saw this picture in CNN and this picture brought back the memory of a dog I used to have back when I was Nepal.....our family named him Raju.....( u know there used to be story about a dog name raju in one of the school book back in old days....that was the reason, we named him Raju).....We welcomed this cute little puppy in our house when he was not even two weeks old and feed him, pampered him and gave him a homely life. He used to be our center of attention (Well....I used to be center of attention before he arrived but I didn't loose my temper though coz he was so cute).....he started running around chewing our shoes ( and whatever gets in his way) when he became more familiar with our home surroundings. We loved it so much......but...one day...I don't know how he got out of the house......when my brother brought him back in the house, he had a big bite in his abdomen and he was bleeding hard.....we came to know that one of the street dog took a bite out of him.....we took to the vet...we tried to save him but....alas....he couldn't make it through.....that was one of the sad days in our house...our house was quiet and nobody talked to anyone....we were shocked to see the ending of this little puppy who had nothing to do with the world except give back the love he had within.......

So I wanted to share this story and ask Sajhali (?) if they had any dog in their life and what did they name him/her and why did you name that way?

sad story ram prasad !! feel sorry about the whole incident !

I have 2 dogs back home. One's about 11 years old, and he has been with me since i was in 4th grade. My sister named him "Diamond" (which i thought was an unusual name for a dog, in the beginning). And true to his name, he turned out to be one "gem" of a dog. He's really a very cool dog, but now he's quite old and grayed in places. One thing, i feel sad about for him is that he might have to die a virgin ..... damn, a sad thought. From the time i have known the dog, he has not been allowed to wonder around outside on his own. (so assuming he's still virgin)

(let me take advantage of this thread, and make a quick announcement here: any bitches out there looking for a good time with a dawg? contact me). Hope this helps Diamond, afterall he more than deserves a bitch by now.

The second dog that was recently welcomed in our home was a small puppy, a year back. Since he was bitting off everything, from shoes to carpets and everything in sight, I named him "Tyson" (no puns intended). Well, i didn't get to know this particular dog very well, but I hope he turns out to be another good dog.

Sometime after I came here, i heard my parents had taken in another puppy. (the cute type, with long hairs covering everything including the eyes sometimes). And i also heard he is such a menace at home. May be he's there to fill in my spot..... ;-)

At times, i just ponder how come dogs can so darn loyal and loving all the time ?? (or atleast most of the time, unless you do sth to make him/her angry )

Ram Prasad, refreshing thread!
Back home I used to take in strays ( dogs and cats) to my mom's chagrin but she was worse than me. One day, she found a sack with two kittens. Someone had put the kittens into the sack and thrown them on the road to be runover by traffic. My mom heard the mewling and brought them both back. One died of injuries and the other lived for a long time.

One a happier note, I have a short, fat, round, rolly polly puppy with looooooooooooooooong hair and the sweetest disposition. He only chews house plants though. So, one day, I put chilly sauce on the leaves... but to no avail! He has increased his "hot chilly" tolerance, these days!

Sitara Ji...good one...I can not imagine a dog that likes chili....but the dog that you have seems to be different......and Funoholic.....your family is more dog-loving family than mine for sure........
After I started this thread.....I came to encounter this article in "The Dallas Morning News" of today (09/25/2004)....it is in "Texas Living" Section which I will write it down here words to words. It's a poll conducted by Harris Poll:

61%-----make sure their dog is taken care of before they do anything for them selves'

49%-----say their dog can tell what kind of mood they're in'

37%-----wouldn't consider marrying someone who didn't like their dog'

13%-----prefer to sleep with their dog rather than with their significant other'

25%------prefer a presidential candidate with dog (both Bush and Kerry have a dog, so you will have to choose some other way).

Poll was conducted with 2200 people. No wonder dogs can do anything they wish to and still get away with it..........
