Flow Battery Technology by Techwinx..
Read this amazing article by Techwinx and be Techified

Flow batteries are rechargeable batteries which use replaceable electrolytes to produce electricity. They can be compared to fuel cells which use hydrogen to produce electricity. Flow batteries have the advantage of instant recharging. The electrolytes can be instantly replaced from a reservoir as they are used up. The difference between flow batteries and fuel cells is the greater safety and more energy flow batteries produce. In conventional batteries (e.g Alkaline cells), energy is stored in the electrode material. Flow batteries store energy in the electrolyte.

Flow batteries are essentially fuel cells which can be recharged. Conventional fuel cells like that of hydrogen, use up their fuel irreversibly. They therefore, need an external feed-source of fuel. The electrolytes of flow batteries are used reversibly and are stored outside direct permanent contact with the electrodes. The electrolytes are re-energized using electricity from a renewable source. The point of building flow batteries is to prevent black-outs when renewable energy sources are down. Like cloudy/windless days. Instead of relying on lithium-ion technology, it becomes possible to use non-toxic organic compounds which last longer.
