Hi Everyone!
Trying to decide should I join masters or go for mavni program.
My major is computer information systems (trying for developer) and  I  am on opt 3 months passed no job yet. Any experience from Army? any suggestion how Army life would be? Any suggestions from anyone on the IT field?
Thanks Everyone!

There should be a good enough job market for developers and IT peeps. One of the biggest advantage probably is flexibiliy, you can in finance, medical or even your own start ups and of course wfh :)

Im not quite sure about manvi or other army careers, but I have heard you get good facilities in long run esp for your family. I think u might need GC to enroll. With army, you can sent to different sites so you might wanna think if you are settled or planning to do soon. It might be more exciting and physical than IT jobs though.

I don't know much about it but with what I know, let me correct you there bro. To join the Army, you DO NOT need a GC. You qualify for citizenship right away, right before you start active duty.

The other thing is, I am surprised you as a graduate in CIS are finding it difficult to get a job in IT. That's very strange.
Also, putting your determination, courage, and patriotism aside, Army will not give you even half the money you would make being a developer. But, if you are after imaan, ijjat, and prestige, there's a lot to grab.

Best of luck!!

Bro dhoti ko IT consultancy join gara. Natra Nepali ko nai gare pani huncha. First thing is find job and do your best. Donot listen to all the craps people say. Timro kham ta timi le nai garchau. If you cannot perform, you will be fired. Simple as that.

As a veteran, let me put some of my thoughts. Always, do what you want to do but do your best what you do. I was in the same boat 5 yrs before. Some of my friend who did not made Mavini were bragging that foreigner were admitted to send directly to fight in frontlines and bla bla. I had a college degree in technology field too. I could have easily gone to Dhoti or Nepalese consultancy, get trained for 3 months and got a job (~60K/yr). But, I always wanted to join military for lifetime experience, benefits, and easy access to citizenship. I never let my degree go in trash during my military time. I finished my graduate degree (Oh yeah !! It was free) in IT while I was in military and received few IT certifications through military sponsor. I was up to date what was going in IT industry. Four year went so fast. Couple months before I got out, I had three mid level permanent full time job offer in my hand. By the way pay in military (salary+allowance+benefit) is more than what dhoti consultancy pay. Good luck !!!!

Thank you everyone for reply! It is really helpful.
There are lots of benefits being an Army for sure.
I did not want my degree to be a waste so after some research and reply from a credible person rk11 found that it wont be a waste (depends on me though).
@choila_sukutikoachar ya having a CIS degree is good, flexible tara many company wanted residence tesaile ali garo bhayo. With Masters might be little easier, Army ma gayo bhane one can totally skip GC process and go for citizenship.
@StatusPidit yup you are right. Thank You.
@GoneCrazy tehi ho consulatancy le garo banako ho. They fake everything and show you as a highly experience guy, which is also taking away opportunities from many CS/CIS or relevant degree holders coz if there is someone with all that experience who will hire a recent graduate?. mero kaam maile nai garne ho bro hunu tah...aaba entry level/mid level job nai payena... CIS degree bhako manche consultancy k janu yaar... gaye pani pachi samma residence hune na hune sure hudaina...
@rk11 thanks for ur info bro! Good and helpful information.Inspiring!! anyhow how is army life and how to get ready if I am out of shape? Any more info will be helpful and appreciated bro. Thank you

Stranger 1078,
I suggest u to go for army. I have college degree in IT like u but I decided to join army rather than joining consultancy. Its been almost 1and half yrs in army. I have no regrets at all.I have 2 more yrs .Army offers so many benefits and facilities.Just be wise when u choose job before signing the contract.Army offers all kinds of job from infantry to administration so do plenty of research on army jobs(MOS) before u sign the contract.

Go for Army, make your career inside, once you are trained for 4 years, you do not need those bullshit IT consultancies,
