Guys,

My student visa expires on Ist week of February 2013. I want to fly nepal on this December for two weeks.
Now my worries here is my visa going to expire soon (February) because of that I could have problem while returning (in Port of Entry) according to my friend. And I am in OPT

anyone has already gone through this situation. Serious advises are appreciated. Thanks

I doubt you can return back. I have never done that before but I think you need to have a VISA atleast of 6 months before you can enter to USA. You wont be having problem going back to Nepal but when you come back to USA. They might tell you to update your VISA and come back.

Its a serious issue. Its better not to visit Nepal this December.

Tricky situation as you're in OPT. In normal situations, a soon-to-expire visa doesn't go against you, meaning if your visa is set to expire tomorrow, you won't be denied an entry today. A buddy of mine travelled to Nepal just before his visa was set to expire in order to avoid the entire visa application process.

But since you're in OPT, I'm not sure what the rules are. Try asking this on other immigration forums like immigrationportal.com or trackitt. Good luck.

One of my friend went to nepal this oct (took two weeks break from school with prof's approval) and he had visa till this dec. He came back without any problem and same thing last year, one of my friend entered with only a month left. So its upto u but its a risk u have to take. I didn't took it coz i didn't had to. And also i have to tell u that yadi yasto bhayo ra chirnu bhanda agaadi timi lai nepal farki bhanyo bhane timi le ma saranarthi banchhu mero jyaan ko darr chha bhannu pauchh (yadi sachchai ko problem chha bhane). Testo bhanyo bhane timilai firta pathauna mildaina, mero yauta saathi lai testai bhayeko thiyo, tesari nai aayo

"but I think you need to have a VISA atleast of 6 months before you can enter to USA"

That's not true.
