Dear Sajha Members,

I am looking for someone who is travelling from JFK to Nepal (vai Dubai) on Emirates Airways (flight EMIRATES - EK 204) on Sept 22, 2012. My mom, who is physically fit and capable of doing things on her own, doesn't know English and might need assistance boarding her next flight to kathmandu after transit in Dubai.

I would really appreciate your help if you let me know of anybody who is travelling on that date/flight. I would also be happy to make any changes in her travel plan if you are travelling during that week on Emirates from JKF.

Thanks

Thanks for getting back Bhustigre!
I am still trying to find if there is anyone travelling that week(either starting from Boston(->JFK) or JFK).
I will get back to you in few days if that is ok with you.

People looking for travel companions: first try finding if anyone's travelling within the timeframe that works for you. If you find one, ask for their itinerary and get yourself the same. Buying tickets first and trying to find if someone is travelling on the same route is definitely not a good approach; you probably won't find a companion 9 out of 10 times.

This is not to castise the original poster, but I have to agree with Jantarei above.  Far too many times I see requests like this, looking for a travel companion for elderly parents after the tickets are bought.  Sounds rather irresponsible, don't you thnk so?

First, find someone who is willing to be the companion.  Before buying the ticket, ask around - here in Sajha or elsewhere.
Then, once you find the appropriate companion, buy your parents' tickets accordingly.

Why put the cart before horse?

Guys, I think everyone understands your line of argument. And as far as possible, I don't think anyone wants to send their parents with others either. BUT, there are situations when they need to get back home. And usually you buy two way tickets when flying from kathmandu. Now, what you do...you either go back with them(again which might not always be possible) or try to see if there is someone who speaks the same language in the flight (of course there is wheelchair assistance, but again you will be more comfortable if there is someone speaking your language). Also, as you suggested above, I am trying to see if anyone is flying on that airlines during that week so that I can change the ticket.
Now, regarding people coming back here and asking for help, this is the very reason that the forum like sajha exists; to help each other in the community, to share information and to have healthy discussions. And again, I tried to make the title of the thread as descriptive as possible so that if someone is not concerned, he can skip it.
Anyway, thanks for your concern! Have a good day!

jantare ra nepali american lai katti janne hunu parne. Ever heard of round ticket?? Parents usually take round ticket when coming from Nepal which means they already have a departure date for their return. Who's going to find a travel companion to go back from US even before they leave Nepal?  चाइने कुरामा पो खोक्ने .. वाइयात
