 If you are too nice/polite you get taken advantage of. But if you are a rude *assh*le to everyone, then people avoid you. 

What is the solution?

Respect all, fear none.

I prefer being nice and polite to everyone but i also keep my boundaries secure (i try to). If someone does things i dont like, i give signs that i dont appreciate such behavior. If they're not taken, i avoid them or tell them straight forward. I lose friendships but i dont give a damn.
