 dear sajha users,
i am permanent resident and i filed a petition i-130 for my daughter and wife who is in nepal right now.california service center was processing my case. In mean time they asked me few additional documents and  i send them.after a week of receing those documents they update a new status in my case: your case has been transfered to your local field office for additional processing.anybody been through this process? n other this is that .in field office you cant even see the i-130 table to view processing time.what might be the reason trannfering case to field office?please let me know if anybody have any idea.thanks.

They transferred your case to your field office means - USCIS office nearby your city will look after your case. It's is actually good for you i guess. Normally, maximum cases go through the nearby field office of the applicant!

Based on my own understanding, your file being transferred to your local office might either mean something good or bad. I know of some folks whose applications were returned to the service centers while some got approved from local offices.

In any case, you might wanna consider asking the same question at immigrationportal forum (I know, I almost sound like a spokesman but that forum is full of so many knowledgeable members and experts).

Btw, what's the current processing time for the case related to a GC holder's spouse?

footyfan,
there is no processing time for GC holder's spouse.once the case is approved ,they will send it to nvc and have to wait till the visa available,we have to go through visa bulletin once the case is approves.how long filed office takes to process thsi case?seems like u been through this process.

Nah man. I haven't, I'm still single and unmarried. I was just curious because I'm undecided on whether to get married soon or wait till I became a citizen (not sure if I wish to apply for one to be honest) so I thought I'd ask you...that's all.

Is the availability of Visa numbers significantly higher for the spouses already in the US?

visas r unlimited for the spouse of us citizen.if u file through green card u have to wait till visa becomes available but if u apply through citizen visas r always available but make sure your petition should approve first.

Are there any immigration experts who can help me? If I-485 (family based) is pending, do we need to renew our B2 visa using form I-539? I believe with the adjustment of status pending, visa renewal is not necessary. Is that right? Any help is highly appreciated.

Thank you
