 Folks,

What'd be a good way of going into getting a diabetic parent in 50s insured? Someone advised me against disclosing the preexisting diabetic condition but I'm not sure if I'll be able to get away with that.

Somebody care to share their experiences on this matter?

You probably won't be able to get away with it. Insurance companies have certain periods during which they don't cover preexisting conditions, for most of them it is one year. It is better to disclose it unless you know the doctor which will write the notes as if it is discovered for first time.

Is your parent permanent residence or in visa beside tourist visa? If yes, you should be able to get state funded medical plan for pre-existing condition. Check your state level pre-existing medical plan. You can not get any private company insurance with pre-existing condition in USA. USA is very bad for medical treatment.

Thanks for your replies, folks.

Bkshres bro, my mom is a permanent resident. But I'm not sure what factors are considered to qualify for the state funded medical plan.

Ameeenran...(what kinda nickname is this?), are you saying it based on your own experience or what?

Would I be in trouble if I were to 'lie' and not reveal my mother's diabetic condition?
