Guys I am thinking of spending upto $50 on a watch for my dad to send back to Nepal. Can you suggest me what to buy??
Today I saw some Timex that go from $12 to $75, Amriton that is almost the same price. Are these cheap brands or what should i be looking for.

And again because I am giving it to my dad I want it to look decent, preferrably good brand and I can go upto $100 just in case.

I dont know where you live, but if you live in the east coast, go to BJs wholesale club. I recently saw sale on the swiss army watch for just 80 bucks. Also, i like Fossil better its cheap and high quality. Macy's always has sale on those watches, check it out.

PS: dont buy watch online from buy.com or ebay . I had bad experience with it.

You said, its for your dad right? for GOD sake, do't buy cheap armingtron or Timex. You Dont want to make him upset in few months. I would rather work few extra hours or cut my soda and coffee to buy little better one.

Go for Citizen ECO_DRIVE. They are beautiful, not that light like timex or casio and dont need to change battery at all, although they run on battery.
Its for your dad, so choose one with a medium (on bigger side) dial. I am wearing ECO_DRIVE for last 9 years, no problem.
I had bought Fossil for my DAD 2 years ago (spend about $80.000 then) and did not last more than a year, Although My dad did not say anything, but you can imagine how frustated he must have had.
Last month, ECO-Drive was on sale on Amazon and on Macy's as well. MSRP around $265. I paid, $165 on Macy's. And remember, if you buy on Macy's " MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR EXTRA DISCOUNT FROM SALES PERSON", They always give you 5-15% ONLY IF YOU ASK.
SO far, I have bought 4 watches from Macy's and always got discount. and IF you open a new account, you get 15% discount as well.
In Myc ase, I use macy's card and always get 15-20% discount coupon mailed.
And remember, they are always desperate to make members so, dont worry, if you dont have SSN, you can tell that to Sales guy at the store and they can use your school ID number or something like that.
Thats what my wife did about 2 yrs ago.
AND CHECK on amazon.com too (Not from salers on amazon, AMAZON itself).

I have a bitter experience with worldofwatches.com I ordered a citizen ecodrive bracelet watch for my to be wife but after ordering they sent me the information that they do not have the same watch in the stock and suggested me the other watches. But I cancelled the order later. If you have time then keep your finger crossed and keep on visiting dealnews.com you can get a nice Seiko chronograph around 60-70 bucks. probabiliy last week it had a nice looking seiko watch at 70.

But if you have other plan like kakakul suggested do not invest on Japanese timepiece rather go for european brands like tissot at that same priceline.
