texas residency, in-state tuition fees
hey guys, i've been planning my college degree and i found out that if i qualify for texas residency then i'll pay the in-state tuitionn fees...do i qualify if my sister (a US citizen) files for my green card and i give the college a copy of reciept of I-485? please share your ideas? if i should do it or not? and anything you think i may not know...please...
thank you!
according to my understanding each state have rules like they consider you for resiency if you are on F1 in same state for one year or six months based on their rules
filing i485 doesn't give you residency status but yes it does give you if you have EAD but double check with state rules and university requirement
but you are doing good reserach so far and are on right track but you need to do it more
thank you gohtalo, yeah im hopeful that may be someone who has been in same situation in texas can answer my query..

Talk with the college and explain your situation. I have a friend (not in TX though) who had a similar situation and he got residency based on the fact that he was in the process of getting a GC. Matter of fact he had filing for Asylum and he just showed the proof. I think you also have to meet other requirements. You have to be living in that state for over a year. The best thing to do is to discuss with the University. There should be a department which handles the residency tuition. Good Luck!
