I am planning to go to Nepal soon but my visa is expired. I still have 1 exact year left to complete my bachelor.

My cumilative gap is low like 2.6 but major gap is 3+ never worked out with ssn nor have been out of status .. Every thing is good but worried if the visa issuer don't stamp me :( . What do you guys think should I do? I really want to go n mee families and grandparents as they ate getting older ... Any suggestions are appreciated

@kanchi: You really want to go mee families and your grandparents ate getting older . Comon now, is that a typo or you are posting the question without reviewing your grammar. If you want proper response, please post it correctly.

Now coming back to your question, i think you should be good if you have your I-20 signed by your international advisor. They can't stop you from graduating unless you have committed some misdemeanor or Felony.

Hey sirus_me

It was an iPhone type error .

What I really wanted to say is I am missing family and haven't seen them for long 3+ years so just want to leave USA for a while and spend some time back home but sooner or later i got to be here and complete studies and prepare for career ...

But don't know how the procress is and how to appear strongly

"Comon now"
Says the man who opines that the originator of the thread should've checked her grammer before creating the thread. It is "come on" fyi.

Anyways,

Kanchi, if you fulfil the two criterias (1) your sponsors will be able to provide for your financial expenses for your studies, (2) you will return back after completing your studies, I don't see why you won't get a visa. A number of my friends went to Nepal in December and renewed their visas to return back and complete their studies.

Hope that helps.

If you meet the criteria then you should be good to go. They are highly likely to ask you questions related to your studies/course and hence, the chances of your GPA (those Fs to be exact ) being questioned wil be high too.

Provided that you satisfy the requirements and manage to answer the question related to your GPA,grades, I don't see why you will not receive the visa.

@Messiah: You trying to be OVERSMART eh! How long have you been in US? 'Comon' is the slang version of 'Come On', did you get it? Btw, aren't you the one who was asking if BA/QA was appropriate? Dude, don't hit the stones if you live in the glass house ;-).

@kanchi123: Although you are eligible to be granted visa, i will say, you are taking a big risk. Definitely, they will check ur grades and transcripts and if they saw you got couple of 'F' grades and you haven't completed your education in the given visa period, they will think that you have no intention of study in US.

So my suggestion would be to visit Nepal after you graduated from your college. I know it sucks to be away from your family but it applies to everyone here in  US. I haven't gone to Nepal for like 8 yrs but i am planning to go this december. Let's see how it works.

Last but not least, you are the one who needs to decide whether you want to take a RISK or finish your college first.

Hope that helps!

Wasn't acting oversmart by any means, Sirus_me. People say "common" (not comon  ) and the mannerism is similar to "your" that people interchangeably use instead of "you are"....

Kanchi, I just asked 3 of my friends about the questions they were asked...(all 3 of them went to Nepal in December, got their visas renewed too)...each of them were asked general questions related to their course work like "what are you studying?", "will you return back?", "where is your college located" etc....

Your main concern is your Fs....and you should come up with decent answers as I firmly believe you will be asked about why you received all those Fs...

Regardless, good luck.

Kanchi - I went to Nepal on dec 2009 in my 3 weeks winter break. My visa was expired and I had 2 more qtrs to go which was 6 months.
I just went to Nepal as i was confidence that I haven't done anything wrong here and I had continous schooling and i only had 20 Qtr units which is around 13 semester units remaining to graduate. By that time I was already 6 yrs in States.
I had to re apply.
I had the following documents -
I-20
Bank balance of 6000 $ of BofA
Officail Transcripts
Letter of completion of program from International student advisor and the letter of status.

The only thing diff from you on me was that I didn't have any F's and my GPA was around 3.2
My experience at the interview -
Had a lady counsellor who was rude.
If I didn't missed any part, the following was my conversation -
Counsellor - u were there for 6 yrs huh (unpolite way)
Me         -    yah, i took extra courses that didn't transfer in my upper division program and I had taken a semester off to see my      parents back in 2006.
She goes to my SEVIS records -
Counsellor - How much was your tuition fee @ Ferris State University (it's the university where i had a visa for n then transferred to LA)
Me        -  around 6000$
(she looks into the SEVIS for more info)
Counsellor - what did you do from 2004 to 2006 (that was the time I had X-ferred from Ferris to Los Angeles City College)
Me      -   I went to Los Angeles City College
Counsellor - Did you went to ....... College? (i forgot that college name she asked me)
Me      - No
Counsellor -  But it is here on the system
Me     - I never been. From Ferris, i went to LACC and then now m at Cal State Uni Los Angeles
( She checks my grade on my transcript, the recent fall quarter, i had 3 A's in all subject, the best in my career.
At the mean time, damn dawg I think I should have never come as she was taking atleat some time 5-6 mins viewing my course details)
Then
Counsellor - Who supports you
Me     -  My parents
Counsellor - what does ur parents do
Me     -    business ( man, i wasn't  nervous evn though she had taken some time, the only nervous was that if she could have given me hard time as i was showing the bank statement o f BofA of 6000$ only).
Counsellor  - come monday to pick up ur passport with 200$.

damn homie, she didn't even close the conversation with humble greetings, instead I said, Thank you, you have a good day to her.

The only point I went to Nepal was that I wanted to have a visa on my passport so that I could travel nepal on opt too. So homie, i was  given a visa for 5 years to watch Lakers ruling the NBA.

Lets come in your case, it might be tough. I shared you all, so you will have pretty much idea about what they will ask you. May be it might not ask the way like to me, but normally you gotta prepare those.

Guess what, i went to pick up my passport on Monday, i was rejected as they told me that Visa Stamping machine was broken and come tomorrow.
Went next day, they told me same as the machine was still not fixed and they said they will call me to pick up when the machine is fixed.
Finally, the next day after 2 days, i got the tickets to see lakers parade.

Hello ppl .. Thanks for your kind response. and thanks c..ronaldo for the details. However it is tuff the way you describe. I clearly passed the F in a good grade . Lowest were A- for the F grades I got.. It was all due to home sick and boring life at usa. No studies and just time pass. I talked with advier and she said she will write a letter in favour of me and support me. I am not sure how will the counseler react. I also didnt change university and studied the same university and still continuing.. but however I did a dual enrollment into a community college.. will they know about it?

I plan to go to nepal during december and after that I will only have 2-3 term left to finish my courses. Right now this is my 6th year running.. :( ..

any other ppl could you please share your interview moments?
