Please any valuable Suggestion needed, any one have experience of going back Nepal with a I-20 (enrolling a new program) after using  the OPT period  of first graduation . The situation here is before taking any class , so is it risky to travel with new I-20? any valuable experience and suggestion is hightly apppreciated...

I think your intl advisor is not allowed to sign your travel i-20 before you attend any classes.

@ default can you double check on that cause My Int'l signed I-20 before I started my class, but I traveled one semester after taking classes.

might be risky brother... unless you really really have to, i would suggest against it.

Please make a point that you  don't plan to come to US more than a 20-30 days before ur classes starts.

A friend of mine just came back from Nepal a week ago. She had just transferred to a new university and hadn't taken any classes. But yes, she did register for classes in the new university. She came back a week before the classes started.

If you really have to go then register for classes and go, otherwise i'd suggest you to go after studying one semester at school.

Take care.

Guys, My problem looks similar with this. I am graduating this May with an Associates Degree and I am planning to go to Nepal taking the I-20 of a new University. Will that create a problem? Please Suggest!

let me straigthen out the situation here:

abhi sharma is gotten (say) bachelor degree , she's used her opt for that degree and she is  due to begin masters. However , she is travelling with new I 20 while her old visa still valid and she has not started the classes yet.

with a new i 20 from new school , the intial signature of DSO also serves as a travel signature for 1 yr (it's a default travel signature). so you don't have to have it signed by DSO. As long as you have valid visa and new I 20 you should have no problem. However,  had you have your visa expired and had new I 20 from grad school, you may have some problem there (since it's like applying first time for visa, like the one you did first time in nepal) and you may have to apply for visa for masters again.

The bottom line here though: since you  have your new I 20 and your visa still good, you are good to go

@ the lonely travel: this is normal with nepalese. they finish their associates, finish their OPT, get i 20 from 4 yrs school  and go visit their family without even starting a semester. No need to worry, you are good to go too.

@kaili -I dont knwo about other university , but UT@ Arlington denied to sign my travel I-20 before my class started. I had to wait till the middle of the semester and Finally they signed it . I didnot had any associate but ofcourse I was transferred there from another college.
@Birkrishna- UTA used to issue us temporary I-20 at first which clearly mentioned that it was temporary . So that would not count as travel I-20. They used to take 2 weeks to issue us I-20 with advisor's signature ( that would be new i-20)

I know a guy who continued his master ( without taking opt) and went back to nepal for a month during the break without any problem. He joined master at same university if that matters.

I feel like it depends on university strategy. Abi, you may wanna see your Intl advisor or save it to next sem just to be in safe site.

thankz guys, @default u r exactly at the point where i am looking for. I am doing my second consecuetive masters, the only different is i have used my opt . my intl advisor says tht i m fine n can travel once i get an I-20 n i m waiting for new I-2o to be issued since there is date concern to issue a new one, but i did not find any body having similar experience so the probality that they might stop is high i guess if i travel without taking a sem. of class. But i know there is a rule that since you have a valid visa , you can enter usa  with an valid i-20 within 150 days since u left usa. But u never knows that nowadays port rules and restricitons applied soo waywardly.
