Hi all, I dropped down my laptop from the table now I try to on it but noting appears on the screen. I am wondering whether I can transfer data from it. I did not have back up files. How likely is it having hard drive crash in this accident?? I have so many memories on it (photos). Please offer your suggestion! Thanks in advance!!

Try to on it again. lol.

A physical hard drive crash might have occured. Last time that happened to me and I took it to a repairshop they simply said they couldn't recover anything. You r doing the right thing by asking around before you take it to the repair shop (to recover your files).

Buy the following cable, mount your Hard Drive as a external hard drive to another computer, and copy the files. May not be the HD but something else like the motherboard, screen is broken. May be the hard drive as well but you still tried right?

When you try to turn on the system, do you see any lights?
or when you plug it to the ac adapter, does tha ac/charging sign glows on ?
If charging doesnot glows on, probably the circuit problem somewhere. If lights goes on and respond to the power button but cannot see anything, that could be monitor
If all lights are responsive but doesnot turn anything on or doesnot responds to the power button, it could be mother board.
If it was hard drive only, the bios should be able to load ( i think , but not sure)
could be harddrive + other failures too

If your computer was on when it fell off, chances of harddrive crash is pretty high.  Otherwise, it may not be the hard drive.
So , data retrieving seems highly possible.

If it is display failure, you can connect it to the external monitor .

Buy an internal harddisk adapter, costs u around 5 bucks and that will turn ur internal hard drive into external.. I am assuming there is not any physical damage in your hard drive, and there shouldn't be as long as you haven't dropped your laptop from  a building because of all kind of shock resistant shit they add on today's laptops. Even if have meshed it totally it's worth giving a try

I do see all lights when switch on the laptop. Even I see window logo on the scree somewhere in deep but not very clear. Does this mean there is no hard drive crash. I went o bestbuy but they are preety expensive. For diagnostic $70 and retrieving data up to 9GB extra $100. It would be cheaper in Nepal if I take it to hard ware technician. I am thinking of going to Nepal end of this year. Is thee any extra damage if I keep this laptop for another 8 months for repair??

The damage will be the same no matter how long you keep it without using. Your hard drive is fine if you were not hallucinating the windows logo ;) on the screen coz OS loads from hard drive. Try plugging in your desktop monitor to your laptop and you should be fine.
