December  bad choice it's winter season and view will not be that clear as fall  even though, here are some info  You better go Ghorepani, tadapani , and ghandruk these are the Moderate trek  it start and end  in pokhara.. You can do it by yourself hope you' are nepali  .There are lot of trekking inns and tea house on the way  to get the direction  .So there is no need of guide, but you may need a porter cause  These treks  are 5-6hr a days and if can carry  your own back pack then its all right  or just  hire one porter in Pokhara .

One of the good Trekking route is from Naya Pool, Pokhara to Ghorepani. Then Descend to Tattopani, Ghara; then again trek to Jomsom. Then go to Muktinath via Kagbeni. I did that in Dec. of 99'. One of the best experience.

Lemon Tea,

People like us shouldn't limit ourselves to where foreigners trek. There are tons of places in our country where you can trek--just make your plan carefully.

I have exhausted the well beaten tourist infected path long ago. In my last trip, I wanted to go to Dolpa (to see white leopard, if possible in Foksundo park), from there to Mugu(Rara lake), down to Jumla, Jajarkot and then to Surkhet. I actually talked to trekking group in Kathmandu which helped me when I went to Solukhumbu, and they were positive about setting up this trip.[I had to come urgently back so it didn't materialise]

By the way, when you go to these villages, and districts, that is when you realise that our country is still united, and all these talks of sanghiyata/division is bullshit. People want freedom from political invention-- they want 'gari khana deu'. This is where we see beautiful people, and we love our country for what it is.

Goodluck man. Hope you will find a nice route. In Kathmandu, you can talk to any trekking operator and I am sure they will be most helpful. [Of course, take local porters when possible]
