Oh! I know what you are saying. The Financial company wants you to hire as a Trading Rep to do work on FIX protocol. But here is the thing, at my work, we hire people with  little IT skills but strong background on finance or accounting for this position.

BUT if you have lied on your resume to get this job, like you are an IT expert and knows about Financial stuff, then you will be trouble. This job requires to know 90% financial terminology and complicated financial trading issues of a client and you update, connect, rewrite the problem and forward to senior Trading Specialist Rep.

Practically, I have not done this job but since I work in HR Dept I have little knowledge of it.
I hope this is what you are referring to as a " serious reply".

Can't find a better example of irony than SIS working in HR.

gc1488, trading requires sound understanding of finance and accounting. I would suggest looking for schools rather than answers on Sajha.

Thanks alot to those who replied specially to Lahure Kaancha and better Nepal Thanks a TOn.

I really appreciate you guys help But seems like some people dont know when I said Serious Replied means Its serious Replies only

Yeah Its for Job for those who asked me, I haven't have done that kind of works in the past but I have done support in different other companies and I know how it works.

Just wondering how it works in Financial companies and all
What kind of issues they have specially in the production support role coz scenario always helps as I can give examples relating to that.

If any of you who is thinking I am not working from my side you are wrong I am looking and researching too just I thought real time experience might help me better.

I have seen people here who were pretending to be a good trader or may be they are I am not sure so I was thinking people do have good knowledge of the thing I am looking for.

Anyway, I am waiting for more replies and Im hoping i will get some more input,
I am really satisfied with the process Lahure Kaancha posted.

So is there anyone who knows you can even email me, and we could talk may be if any nice people out here who is willing to help.

DHYANYABAD

your definition of "serious" seems to be trying to be spoonfed the information. don't blame other ppl for not owning up and answering your question "promptly". as a sidenote, what research have you done yourself? plz tell us.

And I don't see jest in any of the replies except one.

Easy.

Step 1: Understand the technical implication. There are myriads of books dedicated to fundamental trading software architectures, from the proprietary to universally accepted standards, readily available from your local library.

Step 2: Understand the finance function. Learn the role of a trading desk within a brokerage house and how it interacts with all the stakeholders - front office, middle office, back office (your support role), and externals - buy side firms for example. Be swift with the financial trading jargons, i.e. settlement of plain vanilla swaps

Step 3: Understand how technology (step 1) enables business (step 2). The criticality of financial systems, as you may know, is directly tied with monetary values. Any downtime during production has disastrous outcome. As you are an IT person beckoning with production support skills, you should fully understand SDLC, project specific methodologies and processes, and more importantly the criticality of the business impact (step 2) if the underlying code/configuration should fail (step 1).

Once you complete these steps - then you can go into vendor specific technologies: TIBCO, SeeBeyond, WebMethods, and standards: CORBA (old but sill out there), SOA, Cloud Computing (brand spankin' new) to get more in-depth understanding of their implementation and offerings.

-JB

Note: I am not an IT person (although I had a very short stint writing code once). I have run into tech gurus/honchos while developing strategy bus cases and conducting firm valuations, who just love to explain technical stuff with their never-ending squiggly lines on a whiteboard to non techs like me.
