Dude, few years back I was in the same position like you? I used to ask question "which stock to buy?"

Now I realized i must have sounded "weird"!!

I am glad, that you have interest in Stock Market, my first suggestion to you is read some basic book about Investment/Market (My Favorite for Beginners is " Understanding Wall-Street")

To answer your question, I assume you have MONEY IN HAND and want to GROW it(AWESOME thought THUMPS UP)

1. If i would have been you, I would invest it in MUTUAL FUNDS (As I have less Idea in Stocks, Yet i would like to GROW my money with LESS RISK)--> its like an AUTO PILOT, let the Money manager do the JOB you enjoy the RETURN!! (till you master the tricks of the trait)

Which Mutual Funds?

1. Index Fund and 2. TIPS FUND (i.e Treasury Inflation Protected Securities)

Tips for you...

goto google and search for Vanguard or Fidelity INDEX FUNDS!! and also TIPS FUND

My 401(K) are in TIPS and INDEX FUND only!!

Hey Lahurekancha, I am glad when you said you started doing it when you were on F1 coz. I am on F1 too. I am very much interested in stocks and options, but could not open the Broker's account. Could you please suggest me a website where I could be approved for the Broker's account? Or are there any techniques while you fill out the form in order to get approved? I would really appreciate your honest answer. I am so much into it.

I'm not sure if I have the courage to do so, just think what will happen if I lose all the monopoly money. My life will be ruined, how will I make the mortgage payment?? Dude there are many Online Brokers like 1.ScottTrade($7/trade) 2. Ameritrade($9.99/trade) 3. Fidelity ($19.95/trade) 4. OptionHouse ($2.95/trade) 5.thinkorswim ($9.95/Share)

I use Sogotrade ($3/trade) ...For options Price is different!!

I'll speak of Sogotrade as I have used them and Fidelity [for 401(k)]
(if you go through my previous MSG on this thread you can verify whether its LEGIT or not)

Sogotrade started Options trading like couple of months back, they do CALL and PUT OPTIONS (no naked PUT though)!! They are working on SPREAD (at present i think they don't support), I'm more interest in Spreads!! BUT You need to be qualified for the OPTIONS ACCOUNT!!

I just have Margin Account!!

how I applied for Sogotrade account?
-my friend sent me an invitation, I filled in the details!! We need to send them Documents, which they'll ask us to send (Our Signature/bank info and Address proof) [FAX or MAIL]
