San Dai, I did not like the changes you brought in Sajha since yesterday. The popup frames to open a thread and comment is not browser friendly, at least with my FF.

Sajha.com is gradually becoming Naya Nepal (a unfriendly and disordered place), whereas, many sajha dweller are still remembering the beauty of old sajha. Could you please bring back the old sajha?

Dear CT,
I appreciate your post regarding the recent change. As you must have noticed, we now have tabbed section of kurakani that includes News from Nepal as well.

In the old system, it was becoming a hassle to have to go back to correct tab and lots of going back and forth. Hence I changed the system a little to allow for opening the thread within a frame whose height sizes automatically depending on your browser size. This allows you to view all the info without actually leaving the homepage.

This may seems a little odd at the beginning but this will make it easy to access different things with lesser clicks and lesser loading times. I have already noticed an increased performance as far as load times and execution speeds since lot of redundant loading is reduced in this format.

There is much more to be done in order make it easier for members to access information faster and easily, and it's a work in progress..

If you do prefer to access the old way, you can still click on the "kurakani" link on the header (under the sajha banner at top left), and navitate in the old way.

Having said this, we are still in test phase of these changes and depending on how effective it is, we may keep it or toss it.

Happy Friday!

Whatever, i like the old one,
Scrolling is hard in this new one and sometimes you lose the page. the non-active homepage grey background seems grumpy.

I have the feeling that the sajha visit, response to threads and new threads has gone way down since last few months;  admin has the correct stats.

great weekend everyone

I can't open up the threads in a new tab, earlier i used to open the threads of my interest, all in new taps, but I've noticed that I am not able to do that anymore. Can that thing be fixed, coz it really makes browsing the threads real fast and you don't lose the homepage either.

I am liking the new changes. People are always skeptic to changes hence they complain. However, over time they adapt to it.

Only thing, I don't see the need of two scroll bars when you are into a thread.

I like the concept of featured posts: "Most Viewed",  "Most Rated" and all. May be they can have sub-categories as well: "Most viewed - Today" or Most viewed - Month" etc. That way, it would be easy to read useful threads of interest and ignore those which are utter crap.

Regards,
PA

The new design prevents users from opening two threads concurrently. The only way is to open sajha in two windows (or tabs).

The worst part is, once you open a thread...the existing thread list updates dynamically...leaving the users partially confused on what happened...

IMO its a bad UI. But before thrashing my post remember that it's just my opinion. :)

It would make sense if the pop-up (child) window should restrict user from accessing the page page, but it's not so in this case... u can have the child window open, but u r still able to click few links visible on the main page... i like lots of thing in sajha, but this one just seems too odd... i've never seen any forum where the thread is open on a pop-up secondary window... it's just not user friendly at all.

its a perfect example of misuse of technology. Specifically AJAX

Although the changes had a lot of benefits as far as loading time and easy access, it was not working out for some users because of differences in browser behaviors. I will have to think of another way to achieve this... Nevertheless, it was a good learning experience.

Best wishes.

Normally, when I enter Sajha website, I quickly look thru the discussions topics and open interesting topics in a new tap by clicking the wheel button of the mouse. So I have all interesting posted opened in different tabs and I go through each tabs. With the changes you had, it was not possible as I can only read one post at a time. When I read the post and then go back to the main page, I usually forget what I wanted to read and where I was before. So have to go thru the list once again. Old one is better.
