lost ssn international student

Okay, I am an international student.
Got SSN and bahira kaam garna pani use garee though not allowed, as it says " valid for work only with DHS authorization".

Now, its stupid but lost it some how.

Now ,,what do you guys suggest,,,will there be any trouble if I go to SSN administration to get the other one.
PLZ help!!

I don't think that's gonna trouble you much even you go through the social administration hurdles coz I had similar incident. To tell you the truth, I was working off-the-books, thank god it was during summer, but this bitch-ass owner of mine who happens to be Korean, registered for employees-insurance as it was a well-established company, using my ssn which was my log-in/log-out number(had to punch in last 4 digits only though). The owner let me know after allthis. After that, daibako khel le, i managed to loose the original copy of my ssn, and I applied to the ssn office and luckily, they didn't find out anything about my work. Its been almost a year since, I haven't got anything in the name of trouble but I changed the work. I hope you don't get into any troubles too.

One of my friend used to tell me story about ss card, he kept is as his heart. Once gone you never know what will happen, SS administration may deny to give you replacement because you got the number and that is enough and no need to carry a real card.

I am also an international student, and I had lost my SSN 3 yrs back. I got a replacement card from SSN office. But a year back, when I applied for credit, they denied coz my SSN was used 4 different accounts ( AT&T, COMCAST, GAS and other utilites). They did not pay, and was moved to the collection agency. It took more than a year and more than 500 dollar to clear those accounts.

So, my suggestion is:

Monitor your credit report at least 3,4 times a year. You can ask the credit agencies to put fraud alert on your SSN.

Narnia, U should not have any problem applying another one. There might be a small percentage of chance that this time u might get a new one without any print of such type - can only work with DHS authirization. One of my frd (int'l student) got his without anything written on it.
