Moving to Pittsburgh, need help: Anybody at University of Pittsburgh or CMU

Hello,

I am moving to Pittsburgh, PA by the end of July to join University of Pittsburgh. So, I am looking for room/roommate. If you are going to University of Pittsburgh or CMU then I am requesting you to help me out to find accomodation. I sincerely appreciate your response.

miracle, if you are going for grad school and don't have problems living with others than nepali fellows, then it is better to email the graduate admission office and see if any other grad student is looking for rooms. sometimes, they can even find one from your own dept.

Thank you for your response. Actually, I am joining as a research associate in the department of medicine/biomedical engineering. I do not have any problem in sharing the room with others than nepali fellows. I am desparately looking somebody who can assist me in this.

Do u have car? I am living about 15 miles away from university, ie in Monroeville. I have single bed room apartment but we can adjust. if u prefer, u can stay till October, as I am also thinking to move to Pittsburgh after that. But not sure yet. If u do not have car, bus is also available. But it takes your time though.

I thought the person was looking for help. "Free Living" - mentioned anywhere or is it just my dysfunctional brain that failed to see it?

I wonder if there is any "trophy" for being a smarty-pant? ;)

Well, if he is looking for help..then bhikaari already told him what to do..how to look for room...if you are willing to pay, you can find anywhere...

But this guy specifically looking for Nepali room mate so he can live cheaper..that's how i feel too..

or He is looking for an assistant , so the assistant will do his job ...

For me the guy needs to write very clearly what his exact intention..

Miracle, Welcome to Pittsburgh!

First the bad news, there are not many Nepali students in U.Pitt / CMU, 2 in Pitt, 2 in CMU. So, you may not find a Nepali student room mate easily.

Now the good news, there are lots of apartments and they are not that expensive as other cities. Also you can easily find people seeking room-mates in Oakland / Shadyside / Squirrel Hill area via pittsburgh.craigslist.org.

If you don't mind living with Indian friends, you may try contacting Indian Graduate Student Organizations in Pitt (ANKUR) and in CMU (IGSA). Their mailing lists have ppl seeking room mates.

The Nepali community in Pittsburgh is small but closely knit. The best way to reach all of us is the Pitt-Nepali google group.

My previous posting was not intended to you. Sorry for that. I am just seeking some help from Nepalese fellow to find apartment in Shadyside area. Since I wil not have car in the begining, I would like to stay close to UPMC.

Thanks lot for info. I think it will really help me to find out place. I do not mind to stay alone or with other roommate. I have already started to search on craiglist but the problem is that I will be there by the end of July only so if somebody can look the place for me that would be great. I have joined Pitt-Nepali google group and I will stay in touch.
