I am planning to go Nepal within couple of weeks. I am currently in F1 status, and my visa will expire on Jan 2010. Will there be any difficulties when I return US on August? I've heard that there should be 6 months valid visa for the students in order to land US, is that true? If it's true, since my visa expires on Jan 2010 and if I land US on August, I would have just 4-5 months valid visa, won't they allow me to land US? Please guys share your experience, also what if I went Nepal and applied from there for the visa extension, will I be approved, or there are more chances of denying?
Please help me guys.... Your help and support is surely appreciated.
Thanking You all. Good Luck!!

You have right to return to USA even if you have 1 day US visa on your passport. I had returned back to USA even  I had just  a couple of  months visa on my passport. So, don't worry about it. You can also apply for  F1 visa extension in US Embassy with all the necessary documentation. Since you still have valid visa until January 2010, it's upto the Embassy if you could get visa extension or not. Good luck if you want to try.

Visa doesn't grant one the "right" to enter a country! It merely allows you to get to the port of entry of that country. It is upto the customs people to actually let you in. In any case, if you still have a valid I-20 to go with the visa there's not much reason to deny entry!
