Hi Everybody,
I invited my parents for my graduation and they already got visa (multiple entry for 5 years). But now due to some reasons I would like them to come a month after my graduation. Will there be any problem in the port of entry coz they were supposed to be here early. I heard rumors that the immigration officer can deny access to US (i do not how unusual is this?). Do you  happen to know any case like this where parents visited US long after graduation (but applied visa for attending graduation) or any case that they were denied access.
Would appreciate any thoughts.

It all depends on the immigration officer at the port of entry.

Eaklo-Yatri,

ARe you a us-citizen, than you can bring your GF in Fiancee visa. If you are on F1 Visa... no luck to invite your GF. Why don't you find a gf who is already in US.

Hi Eklo Yatri,
These are the documents my parents gathered before interview.
-Invitation letter from my University and my personal letter to consular requesting visa (do not forget to mention little bit about you, what you do and where will your parents spend time in US).
-My I-20, Visa and recent transcript.
-A relationship certificate from Municipality or VDC (should be translated and do not forget to include all the siblings even if they are in Nepal. Including all sibling shows that your parents have other kids in Nepal and they will definitely return for the sake of other kids)
-Letter from your parent's employer. If you parents are working it would be nice to have a letter from the employer talking about them, nature of their job, how long they are working and something about leave.
-A letter from your parent's boss will also help (mention that your parents will continue their job after they return from the trip).
-Property evaluation (house, land, business or services) and bank balance (amount that your parents could spend during their visit or just to show that your parents have property there in Nepal which will make them to come back)
This should be enough.

Good luck,

Guys, just a follow up to this old thread; should I intent to sponsor my parents visit and their stay for graduation what would be an ideal minimum bank balance to do so? Thanks in advance for sharing your views.

I Tried to get my mom here. She tried but the consular did not issue her a visitor visa. (No luck yet!~ tried twice). The purpose for the visit was for engagement: which apparently did not appear to be convincing. I have a GC, a decent full time job and looks like nothing is going to work out. On the other hand, my mom is divorced ( consular has not been informed), has Cancer and i am the only child.
I am asking her to apply again in October or so for my graduation this Fall.

What documents should work for her? The financial part is strong~ We have even included Dad's properties. We do not want to disclose the disease and being divorced. Any suggestions?
