After Kantipur publication came under fire by YCL few months back, it seems like the publication now bows down to the Maoist supremacy. The current news they published about the Katuwal is nothing but politics played out by the maoist to oust katuwal.

It's a sad state of affairs that a publication like kantipur bows down to these ruthless killers.

Absolutely. It's all rumor rather than fact to get popularity. I think from 4/25/09, new entrant is entering into the market from their fraction groups (dainikee, and myrepublica). It's might be the marketing strategy of Kantipur.

Hawa nachali paat hallidaina bhanchhan, kehi pani satyata nabhayeko bhaye Kantipur jasto established publication le testo kina lechha ra jasto lagchha malai. Pheri Kantipur is always against Maoists and has been supporting to traditional forces all the time; so I don't think it's just the publicity stunt of Kantipur.

It's true that Maoists want to influence army; they want someone who follows their order and instruction as the army chief. Current army chief does not definitely want any influences of Maoists within army. They have been defying government's orders and instructions, whether wrong or right, so far and if they plot a soft coup, it's logical. But even when army leadership wants a soft coup, i think it is not possible to convince president, other political parties, public and civil society for that.

Well, people talk about Kantipur's neutral role in Nepali media but it's not difficult to see that the wide readership of the publication has been constantly misused for creating more problems than finding solutions. Presently, with a maoist supporter as the editor, it is natural that it indirectly favours the maoists while maligning others at crucial times, though things may appear different on the surface. This piece of news seems to be one falling in the category of those 'haawa' news appearing on 2-page evening papers.  But if there is some element of truth in the news, then one should assume that the moists have won the battle. They have been successful in what they intended to do ever since they came to power - weakening the army by creating fractions in it.
