Mr Mampakha,
Your kind words certainly got my attention and so did your pseudonym. Your comments were so polite I could not refrain myself but share my two cents. While I wish I were as objective like you when it came to arguments, I also could not help wondering if sajha is the right place for an articulate genius like you. A true patriot like you should be in Nepal, as a glorified political leader, addressing to crowds in the same tone you illustrated above (a reply to Bakelite), firmly standing on a podium in Tudikhel. It suits best for you - and considering the existing situation in Nepal, it suits to the entire nation as well.
Also, I would be obliged if you were kind enough to grant me the permission to meet your parents. I believe that it is their tutelage that has marked your nobility par excellence. I am assured that under their supervision, I would come across such high intensity words (like the ones you cited above) which I had been yearning to learn for ages.
I completely support your theory that it makes us lesser Nepali by dancing in Hindi Songs. We should always listen to or dance in Nepali songs and should not question its off-beat tunes or credibility of a singer. Regarding alienating foreign music despite their appeal, I admire your philosophy to such an extent, I am getting rid of all my Pink Floyd and Bob Marley records tonight. Having said that, I want to send you a ‘maadal’ by speed post tomorrow morning. And if it is not too much to ask for, could you make the best use of it by playing it in Ratnapark? It is a rare sight to see a compatriot playing a Nepali music in the prime location of the capital. Not only it reestablishes the patriotism you have within yourself, it also serves as good source of income amidst present global economic crisis.
I apologize for writing in English, I could have written in devnagiri but then thought of simply followed your footsteps. If you find my less then worthy comment a little esoteric, please reply back, I will translate it in Nepali to the best of my ability.
Sincerely yours,
