Just wanted to share this quick incident I think it was brilliant response.

Me and lots of colleagues were out for dinner. Just in chitchat one of my indian colleagues said 'You know we call these guys 'Bahdurs' in India. Well we had whole lots of Canadians and English colleagues too. This just came out of my mouth and I am so happy I could make this up instantly 'Well this goes back to time during Britishers, back when they used to put 'Dogs and Indians not allowed'.

My colleague just left, have not seen him since around me. I am so proud of myself. Kudos.

Initially who ever went to Lahore (  came home and we label them Lahure ). Most Nepali who went to India for job opportunity work as gatekeeper ( security) and every one's middle name were Bahadur, that is how they got the nick name or label.
We are not behind too, If we see a person with blackish skin and appears to be from Tarai we level them "marsiya" madhise. Specially people of Kathmadu love the word Marsia very much.

I guess we are even.

Actually, when the word lahure came from all the folks who joined East India Company military from Nepal. Those people were taken and stationed to Lahore (present day Pakistan city) and then distributed from there. So people from nepal started calling them Lahure (From Lahore)

Well, as we all know, most of nepalese (atleast who go to India for Security Jobs)  have middle name 'Bahadur' hence the Indians call it generalized as 'Bahdurs'. Like Ram Bahdur, shyam bahdur. Its like calling 'Chang' to Chinese or Jose to a Mexican.Atleast Bahdur means 'a Brave one'.

We all know how Indians came up with that word. It is derogatory for most Nepalis who're not working for them. It's like white people using the "n" word in the USA. Nigro means black in spanish , so basically white people are calling blacks as black but the term has history of steriotyping, racism and slavary attached to it, so it is aderogatory term now. Same thing with "bahadur" used by indians to Nepalis. It is not just limited to being brave, but it means we're their servants doing menal jobs. It symbolizes steriotyping when Indians use it for Nepalis. Good job on rubbing it on his face. If i were you, i would probably say to everyone that this word is steriotypical and very offensive like using N word in the usa for blacks and i'm very offended,  and make him look like a jackarse /racist infront of others. but i like your approach very much.
