Indians assault Nepali police officials
The border town of Birgunj remained tense on Saturday after some Indian citizens vandalised a van of Nepal Police and assaulted the Nepali police officials, state owned Radio Nepal said.
They were beaten up in protest of the killing of two people in a police peration a few days ago. Police had shot dead Bhola Sriavastav and Mohan Srivastav, both residents of Raxaul, after they exploded thread bombs in Reshamkothi Wednesday night.
Nepali policemen had gone to Raxaul for shopping. A large number of security personnel from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and the SSB of India (Seema Surakhya Bal) were deployed to take the situation in control.*
The local administration of Parsa has urged people not to go to Raxaul for shopping after the incident.
Meanwhile, locals have shutdown market in Birgunj for the third day today in protest of the killing of a student Thursday morning. Unidentified gunmen had shot dead one Sanjaya Kumar Gupta on Thursday. *nepalnews.com Mar 28 09
