Research on trans fat is a vague topic- would help to clarify in detail.

a.) How trans fat is different from poly- mono or satuarated fats?

b.) What are the sources of trans fat? How body process the trans fat?

c.) What are you looking at? As a risk factor of general health? Cardiovascular health?

It would be easier to comment on which part you want to explore; bio-chemical, epidemiological or something different?

Good luck!

Thanks Dharani for your response.

This Research Assignment is based on the Bio-chemical, I guess.

I will be more thanksful to you, If you help me to explore this questions. I got answer of this questions more or less. However, your guidance will boost up me to layout the competitive paper.

Here are the questions.
1. what are Trans fats? How do they differ from normal fats?

2. what are the two ways trans fats are formed? ( one has to do with the
food industry while the other has to do with natural production in certain
animals.)

3.show the structures and names of two of the most common trans fatty
acids.. These two should have been mentioned in your references. The two
should be formed by  the two different ways listed above.

4.why are there health concerns about trans fats?

5.can trans fats be removed from the diet?

6.what recommendations would you make about trans fats in the diet?

Thanks.

Hey gurl,

Well based on wat i have been taught, trans fat are fat transformed from unsaturated to saturated. See, unsaturated fats has more carbons with double/ triple bonds and hence less hydrogen. So when you gonna make trans fat, u will make the unsaturated fat into saturated, by adding hydrogen and reducing multiple bonds between carbons. ( hope u are not confused),

On chemical basis, they are formed by hydrogenation, using veg oil. And to my guess, they can be eliminated from diet since they are not essential fats.

The health disaster would be that they are gonna jam the blood vessels and cause blod clot, slow blood flow..heart disease...etc

1. trans fat kina trans fat bhayo- cis-fat kina bhayena bhanne thaha pauna check your organic chemistry book. it should explain how the structures of molecules are changed due to addition of bonds and their implications will be there in organic book. structure change bhayeko le density pani change huncha... and those stuff...

2. feri, chemical reaction perspective herne ho bhane consult organic chemistry book. or, biochemistry book ma panim huna sakchha if it is general biochemistry book.

4 ko answer should link with the answer for 1.
