Hello Friends !! I was talking to one of my friend online and i just came to know that one of my friend who graduated with Bachelors degree from US in May 2008 and She directly joined Masters in August 2008. After studying Masters for one Semester she went Nepal in December 08 for Renewing Visa and to vist Parents. But American Embassy denied her Visa this time..She even had registered classes for her Spring semester which already begun in January 2009 and she missed it..She's really worried and seeking some advice. What are her options ? She's really frustrated cuz she couldn't continue her studies and she can't do anything in Nepal at this time.

Even i was thinking of going to Nepal and renewing Visa but i am really worried too. How risky is to go to Nepal after graduating with Bachelor's and coming back for Master's degree ?

We need some serious suggestions !
Thank you.

I m not sure but i think her advisor from the school can contact US embassy and request for her visa issuance.....

On what ground her visa is rejected because the Embassy must have told the ground for her rejection.  If they rejected because they thought she missed her studies than ask her to request a letter from the University that she has taken a leave and University were fully aware of the situation. I think a letter from University regardig this might solve her cause. But i am not so sure.  Also let tell her , getting visa rejected is not the end of the world. Several people gets visa rejected. Most of the times it happens because you cannot provide proper documents.

I knew a guy who had been to Nepal after a semester of Master's, and he was denied visa too like 2 years ago. In his case, his grades were bad although he had always been in status. Is it possible that ur friend had decent grades to begin with?

one piece of advice: go to canada to renew your visa. if you go back to nepal to renew visa and in your I20 they see that you are doing either master's or phd, some consulars might get the impression that you will not come back once you enter US and finish your studies. i know there are tons of cases where people have been issued visa even in nepal for their masters and phds, but don't take any risk in this issue.

not only canada, you can go to any other country to get visa renewed as they don't care if you return to nepal or not; they just see your papers and stamp your pp if you are abiding the law.

Her GPA was about 3.3.......and one more question  ? If we go to Canada for renewal do they ask for financial documents ? or they just need I-20 ? please share experiences.

Thank you.

If you go to canada to renew your visa US embassy in canada has rights to ask you to go to Nepal (your country of origin) to renew your visa. As long as you are going to school and taking full load of credit i.e 12 hrs/semester for undergrad and 9 credit for grad your visa is automatically renewed...Hope that helps..but in her case you didn't mention that reason for visa denial. what was the reason to reject her visa  and how was her financial status...did she had GA or TA or enough bank balance to prove that she can pay her own tution fee?

There is a very little chance that US embassy will reject your visa if you have done your undergrad here in US and if you are enrolled in graduate program. As long as you had decent grades in undergrad, maintained your immigration status and as long as you are enrolled in a good graduate school with financial assistantship there is very little chance that they will reject your visa..I went to nepal to renew my visa after undergrad and i got it easily. I showed them all the documents like before. So I guess there has to be some reason why your friend;s visa was rejected...without knowing that reason..i don;t think we can give you proper advice...anyways one option is to ask an international student advisor to write a letter to US embassy..may be it will help...goodluck
