aaisha,

I am also puruing a Nursing Degree. so, I guess i can help you out. ya! it's kind of tuff to get enter into the programmme. Here, I want to know that when are you planning/ready to apply for the Nursing Degee. I think for the fall admission you are very late bcoz. must of the university have their deadline by last week of January of first week of Feburary.

As well from where you completed your Pre-NURS Degree. Didn't you got admission at same university or want to apply other university to increase your chances.

As per sajha member advice in Minnesota State University, Mankato my frens are currently on the last semester to complete the pre-Nurs degree. by the fall the Nurs administration is going to install the new criteria for the Nurs student. Like applicat's should take the entrance exam to get accept in the programme. before there is only the GPA system on the pre-req of Nurs course. so. try your luck. as per Minnesota state university over saint cloud and moorhead have more tuff curricula to get enter into the programme. as per winona state university i do not have any idea.

I wish many good luck for your NURS studies. keep on searching the university, may luck favors you.

hey guys! before going into nursing, make sure you research about visa retrogression. no more GC for nurses. also, tough to get hired with12 months opt. new grad RNs usually have 6 months of orientation before they're full fledged. that's ur training period. your chances of getting hired declines when the hospitals have to train you 6 months and you'd leave them soon with opt expiration. you could always go back to grad school after opt. the catch is, good grad schools for nursing usually require at least a yr of experience(may be more). and most of the grad students do hv more than a yr experience. btw, nursing shortage is not a national thing anymore. the shortage is pretty much regional now. quite a few hospitals are in hiring freeze....just so you know!

if you love nursing, i'd say go for it! if not, please have a second thought.

my apologies in advance for this discouraging post. just letting you know so you could make an informed decision.

bears23, like i said..i apologize for such a gloomy post but by all means it was done with good intentions. i have a few nep friends who's in nursing who absolutely hate the fact that they didn't know it beforehand. they'd rather pursue some other degree had they known about it.
i'm lucky that i still love nursing despite the fact that it isn't easy to get a job anymore. but this is a sincere post from one nep to another hoping that other ppl(like my friends) can make some informed decisions about their future.
i'd be more than happy to delete the post if more people feel that i'm snotty.

btw, UMD(baltimore) has real good nursing program....with shock trauma hospital(top-notch hosp).

Hi Everybody,

I am also looking for university for my Masters in nursing. I have already taken GRE exam and got 1200. I do have TOEFL score. I have completed my BSc in Nursing from BPKIHS and my undergraduate percentage is 76%. I have also nursing license from california board of nursing  but due to retrogression i dont think i can find a job so i have decided to contiue my masters. Do you guys know any university where i can get assistantship with this score.

thanks in advance

Saku,

If you have a california Nursing Licenses then why don't you google some university at califonia or territory. However, most of the university ask for the full time working experiences as RN at US hospitals. But, still if you apply some university and try to conveince them nay luck favors.

I wish you many good luck for your job and college search.
