Can we claim samajik surakchya tax while we are in OPT? coz theres no federal income tax withheld. so will it be SS tax and state income tax?help
You cannot claim SS tax withheld.
No Mr Norton, you can claim for it.
Anugaman,
you can claim that tax and will get refund in full.
If you have worked in OPT or ur in F1 status..you will get 100% refund of Social security and medicare tax.
You need to file IRS forms 843 and 8316.

I worked in Gas station using my samajik suracha number while i was on F1 status. My opt is starting from next week. So my question is can i file for my tax return of that gas station work or no ? or will i be in trouble if i do...
Yes you can get your social security and medicare back if you have been residing in the US for less than 5 years. The year that you entered US counts as the first year. For example if you entered the US in dec 30, 2004, the 2004 will be your first year. So its going to be 6 years!!
So, if i m in US for more than 5 years and currently in OPT, I can't claim Social Security and Medicare tax ? Is that right ?
Thanks.
