Just got the news--

Legendary Musician/Singer Ram Thapa expired this morning at Norvic Hospital. He was 50 years old.

He started his career in 2031 BS.

He has recorded more than 700 songs.

I had an honor to play with him long time back. We will all miss him.

May his soul rest in peace.

लोक गायक राम थापा रहेनन्

नेपालीपोष्ट प्रतिनिधि

काठमाडौं, नोभेम्बर २०

चर्चित लोकगायक एवं संगीतकार राम थापा ४९ वर्षको विहीबार विहान करिब दुइ बजे निधन भएको छ ।

कलेजो रोगबाट पीडित थापाको राजधानीको नर्भिक अस्पतालमा निधन भएको पारिवारिक स्रोतले जनाएको छ ।

गीतकार तथा संगीतकार राम थापा रेडियो नेपाल कार्यरत हुनुहुन्थ्यो ।

कति बस्छौ माइतीकै कौसीमा, कटर कटरमा, सेरोफेरो सलाम छ मेरो.., जस्ता दर्जनौं गीत गाउनुभएका र जर्दर्जनौ गीतमा संगीत दिनुभएका थापा नेपालको लोकगायक क्षेत्रका हस्तीका रुपमा चिनिनुहुन्थ्यो । उहाँले ऋतुहरुमा तिमी हरियाली हौ..., तिमी त्यसै लजायौ म त्यसै झकाएँमा जस्ता दर्जनौ गीतहरुमा संगीत दिनुभएका थापा नेपाली ठेट शैलीका साथै विशेषगरी ठटयौली खालका लोक गायकका रूपमा सुपरिचित थापाले करिब ५०० गीतमा स्वर तथा सङ्गीत दिनुभएको थियो । स्वर्गीय थापाको आजै पशुपति आर्यघाटमा दाहसंस्कार गरियो । उहांकी श्रीमती रजनी थापाले स्वर्गीय थापालाई दागबत्ती दिनुभएको थियो ।
यसअघि आज बिहान पशुपति आर्यघाटमा ठूलो सङ्ख्यामा उपस्थित कलाकारहरूले उहाँप्रति श्रद्धाञ्जलि अर्पण गर्नुभएको थियो ।
कलाकारहरू मुलुकका अमूल्य निधि भए पनि स्वर्गीय थापाप्रति श्रद्धाञ्जलि अर्पण गर्न सरकारको कुनै प्रतिनिधि आर्यघाटमा उपस्थित नभएको प्रति आर्यघाटमा उपस्थित कलाकारहरूले दुःख व्यक्त गर्नुभएको थियो ।

काठमाडौं कमलपोखरीमा जन्मी राजधानी बाहिरी जिल्लामा हुर्किएका थापा लोक गायकका हस्ती मानिनुहुन्थ्यो ।

Yes .. He has given vocals and music to lots of popular nepali songs.. Its not only the folk songs.. but also lots of modern songs.. He was a trend setter, great song writer and even a teacher.. may his soul rest in peace
