Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.  Yubraj Rai was killed in action Tuesday, November 4, in Afghanistan.  My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and brothers-in-arms.

i am very sad with this news cause this brave guy was my friend.

i learned only when i phoned home 2 days ago.

I feel absolutely disgusted with the fact that my friend is here no more.

Yubraj Rai was a man of action. He was simple and honest guy.

Because of the lack of opportunity in the country, he seek employment with the British Army.

But he love Nepal so much that he once told me that he gonna run an election when he return from the army.

He wanted to get rid of dirty mofo netas. He eventually wanted to settle in Nepal but now i will never see him again.

here's the link to this great man. Permalink: http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/soldiershome/archive/2008/11/24/video-first-gurkha-to-die-in-afghanistan.aspx

Ironically i am proud to say that his death has immortalised the Gurkha's name.

RIP Yubraj Rai

Sergent : Krishna Bahadur Dura

Gurkha soldier killed in accident in Afghanistan
Kathmandu | Monday, Nov 17 2008 IST

A Gurkha soldier from Lamjung district was killed when the vehicle he was travelling in struck an explosive device in Helmand district of Afghanistan, the Defence Ministry said.

Krishna Bahadur Dura (36), who was killed on Saturday, was the second Nepali to be killed in less than two weeks time in Afghanistan. Earlier, one Yubraj Rai was also killed in November in another district of Afghanistan.

'Gurkha soldier Sergeant Krishna Bahadur Dura, from the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Gurkha Rifles, died when the Warrior vehicle he was travelling in struck an explosive device in the Musa Qala District of Helmand Province,' ITN quoted the Defence Ministry, as saying. Paying tribute to Dura, Lieutenant Colonel Chris Darby, Commanding Officer of the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Gurkha Rifles, said, 'The Colour Sergeant Krishna was an exceptional soldier, a gifted leader and consummate professional.

'Intelligent, hard-working and totally committed, I knew that whatever the challenge, I could turn to C/Sgt Krishna and had absolute confidence in his ability to deliver it.
